Since you say you just found the board this morning, here's a little friendly advice:
We don't take too well to strangers rolling in telling us we're all stupid, and claiming to have The One True Answer, which we were all too self-absorbed to see.
You'd probably be suprised at the intellect around here, so don't go beating your chest about how smart you are, and how deliciously subtle your posts can be.

Eh, I'm new to this board (found it this morning), but why don't you just make a new screen name? Then you can try again, following the advice all these people gave you and see if it works...
We usually find out that it's the same person fairly quickly. Others have tried it, they don't tend to last long.

You didn't even read the whole post, did you?

Yes I did, fuckchop.
Did you have a point, or were you just being an idiot?

To be honest, I haven't had a problem with Fazumzen after he calmed down. Though it may have just been optimism on my part, I've always seen the whole "Kung fu" thing as a bit of a running gag; comments like "this game has no Kung Fu, and is therefore bad" seemed like jokes playing off the sterotype he had here, the same way Ryuven has been with swords recently, or like several other people and specific topics. A lot of other people haven't been seeing it the same way, apparently. It doesn't matter which view was correct, the only thing that matters now is that we try and deal with this.
So Faz, just creating this topic has made an impression, at least on those who have just been doing it in good fun. As many others have mentioned, you'd probably be best staying away from the topic of martial arts for a bit, even in jest. Too many people have apparenly become really annoyed by all that. On the plus side, though, I hope a few people will at least give you a fair shot at showing what you can contribute here. I imagine that there will be a lot less of those kung-fu comments after this, as long as you stay away from the topic as well. You've already shown once before that there was more to you than a lot of people thought. With a little bit of effort, you can get past all these problems as well. It's worth it: Evercrest can be a fun community if you work at it. [ 04-11-2002: Message edited by: Chalesm ]

He wasn't actually claiming to be smarter, it was a reference point. By the last paragraph anyway, but I'd have to agree. At least in part with Sage, that the "percentage" line was inherantly assuming knoledge on how intelligent some of us would be in understanding his post in the first place.

Ptomias wrote way to much stupid crap and proclaimed they thought themselves smarter than the rest of this board:

Way to make an intro into a new community.
I'll go away now, that just bugged me
KaLourin regards you indifferently.
Nuff said. I've never had a problem with you one way or the other.
But if you're going to shape up, I won't hold a grudge.
If you believe we are a community of stupid and selfish people, why did you post?
Everyone starts here with a clean slate, you have just read how faz ruined his first impression and is trying to reform. You come on and do the same thing.
I like kung-fu
Why not take it to a new level? A lot of what many people do is done to gain respect (In addition to having fun or whatever else). Pretty much any athlete is automatically insecure as well as most public figures. Anyone who has ever talked shit is automatically insecure. You, yourself attempted to make your post as incomprehensible as possible (Made evident by the post immediately following that one. And I'm sure almost everyone on the board understood it, so you failed miserably) in an attempt to elevate yourself above the rest of us, making you just as insecure as the rest of us. Anyone who has ever told a joke is insecure (Because jokes are told to get laughs and in turn respect). Anyone who has ever tried to make themselves look presentable is insecure.
You just pretty much insulted the whole world.
You, sir, are a fucktard.

Faz, I never really hated you, or flamed you because of your frequent martial arts based posts. I myself am a martial arts enthusiast, mastered karate before I started in on Tae Kwon Do, but most people grow severely bored if you make the same joke over and over, like Ruvyen's "I like swords" bit. To give you a piece of advice for your re-introduction to the boards, is take a deep breath and calm down. For a while, if you see something you disagree with, mention it mentally to yourself, but don't post about it unless you can do it calmly. This was the strategy I recommended to a guy everyone in my gov seminar thought was annoying because he was very vocal about his conservative philosophies. When he was actually able to listen rather than disagreeing with everything the teacher said, he started to learn both sides of the argument. In other words, calm down, and make mostly positive comments until you can argue like Parce or Bloodsage <-Humor disclaimar!
