Joe Cocker? Really? Then why do I remember seeing Tom Jones singing it? Or am I just on crack?

That sounds like something Tom Jones would cover, but it's a Joe Cocker song. At least he's the one who turned it into a hit single.

Go to the cops. Get the restraining order. Call his parents. In that order.

CALL THE FUCKING COPS, can't be any clearer that that as to what to do.

save for involving the police right now, and letting his ISP know whats going on. Both he and I run through AOL, so that shouldnt be too hard.

When I last worked at AOL death threats were taken very seriously and dealt with ASAP.

*nod. sigh* So many say, even Jraik, that this is my fault and that Ive brought it all upon myself.

This is BS, but you are continuing to let it happen to you, stop being a victim.

That now I just gatta let it all play through. *mews. shrug* I dont believe this is my fault entirely..Im not the fucking stalker after all..but anyway..Im going to see what I can do to handle this the best way possible. Im debating though..

Death threats? Print em, show em to local police station, kid gets either arrested or restraining order slapped on him. This is way over the line now, infatuation is like a million miles behind this psycho. If Jraik gets personal threats from this guy, double up on the restraining order, 1 for you, 1 for Jraik. But do not hesitate at this point, because when he starts threatening bodily harm or death, he's pretty much near the end of his rope.

Worst comes to worst...arm yourself with mace, blunt object that you can carry around easily, or if you know this kid is armed, a gun. You're 19, you can get one. Also, you can get the police to monitor this guy, and contact his parents. If his parents don't zip him in for mental help immediately, the police will be able to at least warn you if he's on the move. Restraining orders are good, most people will take them seriously, but if this guy has popped his cork...let's just say I've had to literally drag a would-be stalker away from a friends house, despite the fact that he had a restraining order. Get...the...police...involved. That's all I have to say.

Well look, you can put that thing off untill either something bad happens to either yourself or jraik or this guy goes off stalking someone else, but it's not really the smartest thing to do.

I don't know about the US, but threatening someone with harm in a manner in witch they could take it seriously is a crime. Print the E-Mails, take them to the Police, get a restraining order, then sue him, or do anything that would make his parents get a letter from a court informing them that their son is accused of stalking people.

The parents of 16 year old teenagers are seldom pleased if their kids get them involved in legal hassle, and they'll probably take care of him from there. If they don't, the police will.

However you should try to take the advice of the people here, even if they are a bit harsh, if someone were out to hurt your feelings they wouldn't spend time writing posts on how you can best handle the situation.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

Mark your calendars--I'm behind Maradon, et al, on this one.

It's hard to feel sympathy for someone who refuses to take positive steps to correct a dangerous situation. Your attitude, in effect, is a self-fulfilling prophecy, where your fear that it's your fault you're in danger will lead you to be hurt--and it'll be your unwillingness to protect yourself at fault.

Call the police. Now. And tell Jraik to back off--this is a job for proper authorities, and he may screw it up entirely if this creep makes the case he was the one being harassed.

And also, I agree with everyone else. Restraining order is the only option right now. Allowing this to CONTINUE is the only thing that would be your fault. This guy obviously can't take a hint, that's NOT your fault. So, wash your hands of it by getting the law involved. Also AOL will take action if you let them know.

Action is the only way to make it go away.

Not to sound like an ass, or anything--not that that really bothers me anyway--but what do you mean by, "When I get the chance . . ."?

Maybe I'm just stupid, but what do you have going on that's more important than your personal safety?

Additionally, consider what your procrastination does for any potential defense this guy wants to mount. They'll argue, quite correctly, that if you didn't feel threatened enough to take emergency measures, then you really felt no threat. The guy'll walk, and your restraining order may be rejected--you do have to show cause to get one, you know.

Take this seriously. Or the justice system won't.

When you're about to crash your car, with potential death or injury on the line, you don't hit the brakes "when you get around to it." You do it NOW.

Do it NOW.

I have to agree with 'Sage on that one.

Your personal safety should be your first and ONLY concern at this point, Jessica. Please, it's good that you've started by talking to the cops, but everything else (restraining order, documentation, discussing with AOL, his parents) really should not wait any longer.

Log off your PC and go do these things NOW, please.

Bullshit.

Why is it important to keep this a secret? Your safety may depend upon how many people know--as well as being one of the things a defense team will bring up. "So, if you took pains to hide the situation from your parents, you must not have thought it very serious . . ."

Your parents should be happy to take you to the police station, one would think.

Damn, I just don't get you. Either you're being melodramatic, or you've got the self-preservation instincts of a time bomb.
