What is the symbol in the necro epic that is dropped in Lake Rathtear by 3 mobs that spawn at a point in the quest? (namely after turning in a symbol to the quest guy)

Symbol of the serpent, I believe, although the way I heard it, this is earned by giving items to Emkel, not dropped by any mob in Lake Rathetear. As I understand it, those items drop off of mobs in Lake Rathetear, I assume that's what you meant.

Bonus: what is the guy that gives the Necro Epic weapon out's name?

Ironically, that is an easier question than the main one. Kazen Facae, who hangs out in Nektulos Forest.

Guess I have to come up with a good question then... OK, name all the zones that melees and hybrids can be bound in on Kunark, excluding Cabilis. (There are currently 5.)

Figures, a thread created partly to prove how little I know about EQ, dies when I show that I know more than you thought...

I feel like I was invited to a game of Trivial Pursuit because people figured I'd be easy to beat, but once I getting one or two people thought I'd never get right, everybody wants to quit.

Ah, well. I'm going to start reading the backs of the cards so I'll do better next time, hehe....

Unless someone else wants to play? Here's a bonus question: What part of the original monk epic quest was changed, and why?

Well, if you're talking about Brother Z/Q not droping the robe anymore, then why? Actually, it was reported that wasn't the way it was supposed to be, and that the Robes were still supposed to be dropping.

And this thread was not to show how much you didn't know about EQ. That's just being pessimistic

Actually no... what you're referring to isn't the monk epic quest; the Robe of the Lost Circle is a just a precursor to it, not the quest itself. Of course, you can't begin the monk epic quest without having the Robe of the Whistling Fists, which requires the Robe of the Lost Circle, which requires the red sash and purple headband, which requires... etc. I doubt you'd claim that level 1 monk killing gnoll pups for his white headband is working on his epic...

What I was actually referring to was Kaiaren's true form that you turned the scale from Eejag into; it used to be that turning it in would give some experience, and he'd give the scale back to you. I'm sure you realize how this could be (and was!) exploited; you could simply turn the scale in to him again, get more experience, turn the scale in again, etc. One person was said to have gotten from level 40 to level 60 just by repeating this process (who was disciplined by Verant for exploiting a bug in the game, don't know how exactly, but I imagine it was quite severe!).

For a while, Kairen's was just removed from the game, breaking the monk quest and making it impossible to complete. (Which actually it already was anyway, since turning the scale in didn't tell you where to go next, or allow the quest to progress.) Then they simply recoded it (don't ask me why they couldn't have done this simpler or faster, this quest was broken for more than a month before they fixed it) so he simply returns the scale to you, and sends you on the next part of the quest, seeing Gwan in the Plane of Air. Giving the scale to Kairen is not actually necessary, except to get information about where to go next... of course, assuming that you're actually learning the quest as you go along, you'd have to know where to go...

But that's the change that I was referring to. And it was done because somebody chose to exploit a mistake made by the programmers...

You'll notice VI is more careful about this now. See some of the newbie quests in Shar Vahl where a quest requires you to turn in your acrylia slate, and you get it back... you'll hear the quest fanfare, but will not get xp for turning it in... else you could just get to 60 but constantly handing your slate in... VI learned its lesson.

Hmm... I consider the RotLC and RotWF parts of the epic. And, if you counted them, then you could say that the RotLC was also broken (For a while) One of the items needed to complete the Qeynos monk quests wasn't dropping. Took VI a while to put it back in, too.

Well OK, but you have to draw the line somewhere... RotLC is as much a part of the epic as the white headband and white sash... have to draw the line somewhere. The robes are really like a prologue to the epic, it hasn't started yet really, but it's leading up to it. All the sites I've seen decribing the quest for the epic start with "before you can do this quest, you need the Robe of the Whistling Fists;" they don't start telling how to get the Robe of the Lost Circle.

I suppse you can say the epic starts wherever you want, as one item leads to another. But the quest for the Robe of the Lost Circle can be started quite a few levels lower than the other classes epic quests, so it makes more sense, to me at least, to say the starting point is after you get the robes, bot when you start getting them.

But whatever. If I remember message boards correctly, I believe the item you're referring to is the putrid rib bones off of putrid skeletons, necessary for the yellow (second) headband. For a while they weren't dropping, putrid skeletons would only drop normal bonechips, making the yellow, and all subsequent headbands, (and the RotLC, RotWF, and the epic), impossible to get.

I find this highly amusing coming from someone who answered the last question incorrectly.

Neener.

You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

Warslilks Woods, and I'm almost 100% certain that you can bind at the entrance to Cabilis. I think I've done it, and, I know you can in the FoB too. So I was thinking maybe WW too.

FV, Frontier Mountains, Overthere, Field of Bone, and City of Mist are the five other places that people who would rather not deal with you stinky Lizards can bind.

Oh, have I mentioned that Humans Monks > Iksar Monks today?

Ah right, WW has always meant western wastes to me...

Hmm, I thought you the reason you could be 'bound' outside cabilis as a melee was when starting an iksar as they are auto-bound in the FoB.. I don't think you can bind in WW etc. as a melee.

You can bind outside kaesora in the FoB I think so that one's right at least.. no idea about the others

And snoota: never thught I could bind in the frontier mountains All these times I've been killed there and I had to run from FV are you sure about that one?

There are some ruins near the Burning Woods zone with a NPC there. I don't know if he binds people(since I was gone when they added NPCs who bind, heh), but you can bind in the ruins.
