512 RAM
Hercules 3D Prophet 2 MX, 32 meg card.
[Edit]I'm also a frame rate whore. Gotta be 45 or more.[/Edit]
800x600
i've only got:
AMD K6-2/500MHZ
192MB RAM
Hercules Prophet 2MX (32MB)
and i run all my games at 800x600 fine
I run Shadows of Luclin in 1600x1200 with all features and models turned to the max.
Unreal Tounament... I think at the same. Don't quote me on that though.
Mechwarrior 4 is run at 1600x1200 with 32bit color.
Same for most other games that I can remember. How about you all?
17" monitor kinda restricts me to 1024x768 on all my games...

From Gateway.Floppy Drive: 3.5" 1.44MB diskette drive
Keyboard: Multi-function Keyboard
Case: Gateway Micro-Tower Case
Controller: Integrated Ultra ATA Controller
All the previous is standard stuff, totaling at less than 50 bucks
Anti-Virus Software: Norton Anti-Virus
$40 on the market, not a big deal
Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 1.7GHz
Oh, pardon me while one of my DUAL 1800+ Athlons runs circles around your comp
Memory: 512MB SDRAM (2-256MB modules)
I hope you like your system running shit slow, because that's all thats gonna happen with SDRAM and a Pentium 4
Hard Drive: 80GB Ultra ATA hard drive
Hard drives are cheaper than sex these days. The price I quoted included a 60GB, not much difference.
CD-ROM: 16x/48x DVD-ROM Drive ........[
I'm taking out the DVD-ROM from my old system and putting it in the new one, price I quoted includes replacement CD-ROM for the old one
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
Linux is fun (and a copy of OEM XP Pro from work doesn't hurt neither)
Application Software: Microsoft® Works Suite - Including Microsoft® Word and Encarta
Oh, you mean all the crap you can get on line for FREE?
Video: 64MB DDR ATI RADEON 8500G AGP Graphics with TV-Out and DVI (Windows® XP ONLY)
Sorry, in most all current game benchmarks Geforce 3 Ti 500 won out. I could have put a Radeon 8500 in and brought the price down to $1450ish
Video Capture: None Selected
Mouse: Logitech PS/2 Wheel Mouse and Gateway mouse pad
Ph33r the standard mouse
Sound System: Integrated Stereo Audio
Sound Blaster Live 5.1 in my system, mobo POS in yours...guess which wins?
Network Adapter: Integrated 10/100 Ethernet
Name brand NIC in mine, mobo POS in yours...guess which wins again?
Limited Warranty Program: 3 Year Limited Parts / Labor / Support
1 year warranty on mine, should be sufficient for me to catch any manufacturing flaws...Gateway's tech support is godawful anyway since they opened the satellite stores
Price: $1479
Mines about the same, $20 either way max
Note that this also includes a 3 year warrenty and really good tech support.
[i]See my comment about the warranty up there. As for tech support, *snicker*, their people are all grade A certified button pushers (They've got a nifty little computer system that tells them what to say).

Intel Chipset that uses DDR.

You really expect me to quote all that. LOL!
I missed the part about the Dual Procs till after that.
As for the other parts. I like having the software legal on my computers.
The built on NIC is an Intel which is far from a POS.
And you are showing your ignorance at calling a P4 and SDRAM Slow.
In other words comment on what you know and shut up on the rest.
And if you would have read a bit later on I showed where I could replace that with a GeForce 3 at same cost.
I agree with you on the sound however..
And finally. Have you actually dealt with Gateway Tech support or do you just go by second hand information like most people who THINK they know what they are talking about? I have dealt with Gateway tech support and had NO, zero, zilch, nada problems with them. Some are smarter than others yes. They always get the problem fixed in the end. And if a part is bad I have a replacement within 24 hours. 48 at the longest. Do that with some no name POS company or when you build it yourself.

Actually you are acting more like Maradon. I am citing both real life experience and the experience of other people.
You are saying "Intel Sux" and nothing more..

Never said that. But I do have a lot more experience than people who have done nothing more than build thier own computer and rely on what others say.

Sorry, I don't care if its been blessed by the Holy Trinity, I'll take a PCI NIC over an onboard any day
And you are showing your ignorance at calling a P4 and SDRAM Slow.
Sorry, after looking I found that I didn't realize they had support for PC-2100. While a P4 is still slower for other reasons, I'm not going to bother to look for a comparison of the new chipset. If you want to, be my guest.
In other words comment on what you know and shut up on the rest.
Says the one who thinks that overclocking is for idiots? If it were for idiots, why would some of the most respectable gaming platform companies (Alienware and Falcon Northwest) do it routinely on not only the processor, but the video card?
And if you would have read a bit later on I showed where I could replace that with a GeForce 3 at same cost.
I betcha it wasn't a Ti 500, last I looked those ran about $50 higher than the Radeon
I agree with you on the sound however..
Thank you, come again.

Item 1) On the aforementioned P-200, the whopping 2 GB hard drive went belly up. After determining that it really was dead after a 30 minute phone call, they replaced it. The turn around time was ~1 week.
2) My current computer, a P3-600, was sent to us with a hard drive partioning error that led it to show a 230 GB hard drive instead of a 27 GB hard drive. After calling them, they told us that we'd have to go to the nearest Gateway Country (satellite) store. Upon arriving, we were instructed to leave the computer there. After about 1 week of waiting we got impatient and called the store. We were told that they were soon going to fdisk the drive (which was functional and had ~10 GB of data on it at the time) without telling us some time in the next week. Turns out they wouldn't use non-destructive repartioning software because they "didn't use third party software". I ended up backing it up and fdisking it myself in two hours after we got it back.
So, in conclusion, STFU n00b.

Maybe at YOUR gateway. But I personally have never heard of a good thing out of Gateway service. The stuff they give you is broken to start then they have a habbit of being slow to repair. Not my idea of a 'friendly company.'
That's what I've seen with five friends who own Gateways. All minor problems, too, like a loose cable or missing driver.
One of em had their comp in the shop for two weeks because their Win98 install went bad and was still shipped.

BTW, from what I gathered about the RAM, DDR is akin to a sprint runner while RAMBUS is more of the marathon type (slow & steady). Could someone please elaborate a little on why this is?

I'd say that's an accurate comparison.
As for why? Damned if I know, but I love my DDR RAM.
