Actually, since I was on Luclin Beta, I am pleased to tell you the halflings look great, probably one of the best redoings in the game (primarily because they look like the old versions but with more detail, which is what I think they should have done with everyone 
). I'd tell more, but I'm not sure just how much I'm allowed to divulge. You'll be pleased, though 
Now female iksar on the other hand... Well, let's just say they aren't as cute as they used to be (which displeases me to no end).
And halfling (and other race) guards should remain the same since they use a different model set than the player characters.

The Earth one is bad ass though.
I guess they're supposed to look like their lower halves disappear into wind/water/flame, but right now, they look more like manequinn parts that are either cutting some nasty farts or have jets.
I can't wait to see the epic magician pet, tho. A COLLOSSAL one of those guys.

What the...? The classic floating upside-down trinagle with arms was always part of the charm of elemental pets and NPCs to me. I can't believe there aren't more people complaining about thse models than praising them. I mean, after all, if you all hated the new gnome, troll, and ogre models, you have to really hate these! Think they should have left these alone, just improved the detail and resolution of the current models without completely redesigning them. Not saying they don't look good, they do, but they're not elemental pets anymore! Same thing with the new troll models, they look like tall orcs on steroids, not like trolls. Guess the eart pet action figure that came with the DE magician action figure I have will become a collector's item... maybe I should just leave it in the box to protect its value.

Yeah, I'm kind of wondering what my character is going to look like. So much about the female iksar's appearance depends on the colorful facial features... will have to add the new detail the males have without losing the distinctiveness of their current coloring. Cqan't stand the suspense, please someone post a screenshot of a female iksar when you get Luclin (without one of those skull masks, if she has one)?

Back in the days of flameplay, lots of Mages complained about the old pets. Mages are more of a pet class than even Necros are, yet Necros got the new pet look at higher levels. Lots of Mages were pissed about that.
When Plain Plane of Air came out, people saw the PoA versions of the Air pets, and wanted more.
Here's the "more". Mages HAVE been asking for this. I know some enchanters will like it too (because they will be able to look like this now).

I'll also reiterate my previous thought, that i'd always seen elementals portrayed as somewhat humanoid, with arms legs and basic facial structures. Also keep in mind that these are still screen shots, with the probability that they were caught between frames of animation.
People have commented how good the air elemental looks, but the others look like crap. Maybe in full animation, they ALL look as fluid as the air (except the earth of course)
As for "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." The Mage community would be probably be up in arms if all their pets got was a "texture upgrade" rather than new models..

Do you PLAY a mage? Have you played one for 55+ levels?
The blob is nice yes. BUT the new models are something new, and they are still elementals. as was already said, elementals in D&D and in most other places are bulky slightly humanoid figures
