I dont care what any of you look like, just like you dont care what I look like.
He placed an image out there and hyped her up and it wasnt to the standards I felt was advertised.
I'm sorry if everyone takes it so personally.
Either that or she's just a shallow bitch. A little of both?

Call me a bitch all you want, ive been called worse and by better people.
I dont think how many covers she has modeled for will make me change my mind on the way she looks in that pic. [ 09-05-2001: Message edited by: Tenet ]
It was after the fact that she contacted Verant about the possibility of doing the live modeling for the character.
Not buying this? She had a link posted on EQ's main site during the last fanfaire about how she came to be the live Firiona Vie.

So condemn her for one pic. Just keep in mind that you're doing it here, and thus, are digging your own grave, especially to the people that have met her.
And Synny, you're beautiful. I've always thought Latina women were beautiful.

Can we get a little history straight here? The original artwork was brought to her attention by her mother. The likeness was so striking, that she went on to contact Keith Parkenson and Verant in regard to how they got such an exact image of her. Turns out the original art was a hybrid of 3-4 different women. It was after the fact that she contacted Verant about the possibility of doing the live modeling for the character.
She modeled for the Kunark and Velious covers though. Go read the same thing you pointed us at.
... Eight months after that first shoot, Keith Parkinson once again called Denise for an assignment. This time, EverQuest: The Scars of Velious, EverQuest's second game expansion.quote:
About six months later, Keith called and wanted Denise to model for him. He was hired to paint the cover for the EverQuest expansion, EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark.

Thats why the art on Velious and Kunark is different from the original..this time it actually is her

OOooh, I'm sorry I didnt know you were all such good friends with her that you would take it personal that someone doesnt think she looks like the cartoon for whatever reason.
I honestly dont think I have the power to "condemn" anyone. I was simply stating what I felt about her likeness to the cartoon.
Just because she looks overwieght doesnt mean shes not attractive, I never said she was ugly because she was overweight THAT is something you all projected to my post.
Oh, and I'm not sorry for stating what I thought of the picture.
What I cant say what I want about a post if it isnt exaclty what the thread is about?
*snip*
It looks like some overwieght X-stripper they found in Las Vegas.
Sure sounds like you are trying to portray her as something undesirable. Sounded like a bit of an insult if you ask me.. and umm Tenet.. She is a big fan of Drysart's comic.. seeing as the Firiona Vie character played a big part in many of his strips.. Im sure she and others have run across this board numerous times in a lurking manner.. Im sure thats something Id definately want to read about myself.. *shrug*
The hair is diva wig form!
And I've seen them all!!

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
*shrug* Anyways.. back to topic. *smiles*

You don't have to be good friends with someone to be able to care when they're being dissed. Of course she doesn't look like the cartoon. What were you expecting, an anorexic/bulimic?

And why do you care if she doesn't look like the paintings? Again, were you expecting a bulimic/anorexic woman IRL? I think she looks damn good either way, painting or in that picture. And I bet she'd look better in normal clothes, too.

Pardon me if we, as different people, with differring opinions and differing tastes, 'misinterpret' you. But 'overweight x-strippers from Vegas' are often interpreted into something much less than desirable.
Oh, and by chance, you wouldn't happen to be perfect, would you?

As someone pointed out I have never seen her in public, apparently she looks different in public. Camera does add 10 lbs.
Kloei, I feel people calling me a shallow bitch is YOU getting hostile. Considering you agreed/didnt say anything when they did it.
Kloie- See above, and she doesnt look too skinny on the cover as a cartoon in my opinion, so I was expecting a fuller figured woman.
Kloie- I care because I was excited about seeing her, she is afterall the "Goddess of EQ" She has been hyped up, and I expected more.
Kloie- I AM proud of my body. But it makes no difference what I look like. My image is not the one being sold.

Hell, anyone eating Mentos on TV is selling their image. Same with someone drinking a can of Coke.

I agree, I'm sure it isnt easy.
I never said you were worried.. I was just making a statement. IE. Why should you bother posting responses to us if you werent worried at all? *shrug* Just callin it like I am seeing it here so if I am wrong in that I am wrong. If I see it.. usually I have been known to object to it openly.. although the other times have been private objections. And then sometimes I try to just get people into better spirits by not acknowledging said insulting posts.
As someone pointed out I have never seen her in public, apparently she looks different in public. Camera does add 10 lbs.
True.. I'm sure you look alot nicer in public as well. *shrug* Doesn't mean I have a right to say you look like a college girl sorority slut now does it? Even though you have the perky college girl look to you?
Kloei, I feel people calling me a shallow bitch is YOU getting hostile. Considering you agreed/didnt say anything when they did it.
Yes but Denise never said anything insulting towards you now did she? Didnt think so..
Kloie- See above, and she doesnt look too skinny on the cover as a cartoon in my opinion, so I was expecting a fuller figured woman.
It is a CARTOON! This is the REAL world. Get your head out of Fantasyland and take a look at the real world. No one is perfect.
Kloie- I care because I was excited about seeing her, she is afterall the "Goddess of EQ" She has been hyped up, and I expected more.
Goddess of EQ? In what way? *smirk* She is a girl who is posing as a fictional character.. again.. please step into the real world. Im suprised to see someone so disappointed about the fact that they dont look exactly like a fictional drawing of a fictional character. Yes she posed for the expansions.. but Mr. Parkinson IS a fantasy artist and is well-known for it. Of course its not gonna match totally with what she really looks like.
Kloie- I AM proud of my body. But it makes no difference what I look like. My image is not the one being sold.
Its nice to see someone proud of who they are.. but making insulting judgements of others is in poor taste.. especially.. as I have pointed out.. She probably lurks around here as other Verant staff have been known to do.

So before you were saying she looked like an overweight stripper, and now you're saying you expected someone with a fuller figure!?!??! Color me confused.
Just because she sells an image, a likeness that is painted on a million boxes that line our game shelves at home, doesn't make it allright for you to slander her.
It's not ok when someone makes fun of Cindy Crawford, or Britney Spears, but people do it anyway. It's still no OK.
Making fun of her for looking overweight DOES make you look shallow and immature, regardless of your pointing to the fact that she shouldn't be, because she's selling an image.
Paint it anyway you want, that comment was crude, rude and in this community, unacceptable.

Synj, I am not worried at all if I'm making myself look bad to you.
Then we agree on something.

Synny said it really well right there, she can have that one.

Kloei, I feel people calling me a shallow bitch is YOU getting hostile. Considering you agreed/didnt say anything when they did it.
*I* never called you a shallow bitch. Putting words in my mouth DOES, to me at least, in my not-so-humble opinion, shows YOU are getting hostile. Agreeing and not saying anything are not comparable and are not the same thing to me. I could care less what they're saying right now. My main focus is you. That's part of debating with someone. You don't pay attention to outside interference, you pay attention to the person you're talking to.

Artist exaggerration. Sex sells.

So you were dissapointed. Kick, scream, whatever YOU do that makes you feel better about it, go do it. Saying that a woman looks overweight when you, as a woman, know we are all a little sensitive about it, is not one that will be let slipped past.
quote:
Kloie- I AM proud of my body. But it makes no difference what I look like. My image is not the one being sold.
I never said you weren't proud of your body. I never said it did make a difference what you looked like. You're entitled to your opinions, as am I. I'm entitled to debate that with you. I'm entitled to try to open your eyes and make you see both sides. But I would appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth.
It is strange how we judge and put down those who we feel are placed above us our outside our circle of life by their profession (politics, acting, modeling, etc), but forget to realize they, just like us, are real people with real feelings too.
No, she doesn't look exactly like the paintings of her (Kunark, Velious, SoL) but marketing paintings are not supposed to be realistic, they are supposed to be fantastic, showing the fantasy to sell the product.
I was lucky enough to meet her in Las Vegas last November and she is a charming lady. Personnaly, I find the real person more appealing than the fantasy of her.

Synny said it really well right there, she can have that one.
Synj didnt say that, someone else did.

After the post's that attacked me with foul language instead of just pointing out that I was wrong and to wait until I see her in RL.
To me that is agreeing, in that, you support it. Not to mention what you said sounded like a threat to me considering I was already under attack.
quote:

You misunderstood my statement.
When I said I was expecting a fuller figured woman it was in regard to your post about me expecting someone anorexic, I was correcting you, as I was not expecting someone "model skinny".

I honestly dont worry about my weight, because I dont make it an issue. I know women are sensitive but I'm not talking about women, I'm talking about a woman that is selling her image.
