Ya'll have spent three pages arguing about taste. This might as well be a discussion of strawberry versus vanilla versus chocolate ice cream. You can argue either side of the "she's ugly"/"she's hot" debate, and be just as correct as those on the other side. Nor does one have to epitomize the attributes one finds attractive for the opinion--in a matter of taste--to have merit.

Reuben and Boris have very different views of attractive women--it's meaningless to argue whether one was right and the other wrong. There is no basis for an objective standard of "beauty."

But the discussion is entertaining.

While it's perfectly valid to assert that wasn't the nicest thing in the world to say, it's downright ridiculous to assert, as so many have, that Tenet's appearance has anything to do with the validity of her opinion regarding what constitutes beauty. And it's just assinine to assert that, just because you find someone hot, that everyone else on the planet must share that opinion.

Besides, it was in no worse taste than the original intimation that she looked like she was going to hop onto that dildo-looking object. That's at least as potentially offensive to any woman I've ever met.

We could do a poll! Ladies, would you rather be called:

a) fat
b) a slut

I'd bet neither choice appeals much.

And, just to fuel the entertainment, I'd like to announce that, having seen Tenet's pic, I think she's much hotter than FV. Reasonable people can certainly disagree--because it's strictly a matter of taste.

Bottom line: don't be mean, but don't expect everyone to share your tastes, either.

I doubt it. Denise would probably find it funny, actually. I'd point her to this thread, but I don't really want her to see everyone arguing over her. (And I'm pretty sure she doesn't read them on her own. )

I don't think anyone here is saying they are uptight about their weight, but you. We're uptight about you making a rude comment about someone that a few of us here on the boards, know personally.

It's not as if you made a generalization, "all fat people are stupid" or some such. No one is accusing you of berating or belittling a group of people, like all us fatties on a message board, we're trying to help you understand that making comments like you did, was uncalled for, rude and makes you look shallow to other people.

Lets look at an example, shall we? We'll even use a male one, since they aren't obsessed about looks as you imply that women are. Drysart is not fat and he got upset about it. That should clue you in.

You show no tact, no grounds or basis for making such a rude comment, not to mention it was COMPLETLY off topic.

We're attempting to show you that what you said and how you said it is, was and always will be unacceptable on these message boards.

The right thing for you to say now would be:

"I am sorry for making such an inflammatory comment about her. In the future, I'll think twice about making such harsh comments about other peoples appearances. I'm not an expert on what is beautiful, or what is overweight. It's all my opinion, and next time, I’ll say it with a little more tact so people of this message board will still respect me after I post."

Tenet, Evercrest was started as a group of likeminded people who flocked to Drysart's comic strip. People who had the common interest of gaming, especially within Everquest. Alot of people have gotten to know one another over the years. Friendships have been forged both between the players and between us (the players) and Verants staff. Its highly likely that people who are friends of Verants staff will post on this board even if the staff themselves dont post too often.

As for my weight issue.. as you said, you agree that you could care less about my opinion. Lets just keep it that way mmkay? Anyways.. that first post I wrote was to make a point about the use of tact.

The comment of pissing people off by talking about a woman's weight came up in more than one post.
Since the fact that she was a personal friend of some of you was not brought up I concurred everyone that was upset took it personal.
About the off topic thing...how many time have you seen a thread hyjacked? Heck I've had it happen to myself.

And btw. I just can't see how you see her as overweight. I look maybe a little trimmer than her, weight about 114, and you can ask Deth. I am not overweight by a long shot. She looks pretty in shape to me, too. No love handles, flabs of skin, nothing. I think you're being overly critical.

Anyway, I think the FV outfit needs help. The person wearing it is great, but the outfit is making Mrs. Channel spin in her grave like a high speed lathe.

Someone, PLEASE give FV some flayed Gnomeskin or something (basically, anything that's tight and black). The FV outfit shows skin while hiding bodyshape. It's better to show bodyshape while hiding skin. Think "flowing black robe".
