I know a few of us have connected through Facebook and all that fun jazz, but every couple years I come back and see how the original group of internet friends I made is doing. Becuase, for some reason, we all end up skimming through here once in a blue moon.

So, I'll start.

We bought the house just 2 years ago now, have an instagram famous pug, I started a photography business that is based around pet portraits, and we are about to sell the home we bought 2 years ago and move south, because NJ is too expensive and we want to be closer to our family members that we care about.

YOUR TURN. HOWS THINGS!?

Joined the Navy, got married, got divorced, had a kid, got married, had another kid, bought a house, got out of the Navy, had twins.

Worked an awful civilian job, and found a new one. I quit for the novelty of being able to do it, found out I love doing field work. Went from being a field service tech for medical, to being a field service tech for the power industry. Got laid off, then got hired as a field engineer for medical devices. Got a better offer to be an electrical excitation field engineer for power delivery, which is a fancy way of saying I install, maintain, and troubleshoot power plants all over the world.

Considering I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up, I think I've done alright.

Oh, and I still draw in my spare time. Writing a webcomic, now.

"Age by age have men stood up and said to the world, 'From what has come before me, I was forged, but I am new and greater than my forebears.' And so each man walks the world in ruin, abandoned and untried. Less than the whole of his being"

I'm still in the Air Force, but retire this Summer with 30 years. Not planning to work after, and not 100% sure where we'll end up, but in between retiring and settling down, we plan an epic road trip to see the country, camp, and hang out on our friends' couches. Been married almost 29 years now, and have only lived in the US 2 out of the last 15 years. Our last dog passed away in 2015 and we've been travelling too much to get another, so we can't wait to get a puppy this coming year.

I think this is the understatement of life. It wasn't until I was about to turn 36 that I finally figured out, "I'm a photographer". Graphic Design, Web Development, All that bullshit... I finally was pushed by peers who I saw as world class professional photographers, and they were like, "Why aren't you doing this for money? What the hell is wrong with you"... well here I am!

It's amazing that, when I started coming here, you were, "the old dude"... now most of my friends are around your age. That is so awesome you're getting to retirement and will be roaming the states exploring. I really want to do that too, and will get to soon with my photography. Enjoy Puppy time and retirement time, well deserved!

I love that is where life brought you Mort, you have a site/gallery of some of your work? I love Alfas, but would never ever buy one, because I'm not a mechanic of any sort, and I know that is a key component of owning an Alfa haha.

No gallery of my work yet, no. I did have one, but (long story) one of the partners in the business decided to steal a lot of my work in the form of physical items and credit for work I had done and he claimed he had. He was a bit of a cunt. He severely damaged my reputation by offering a vehicle to a chap in the south of the UK which I would restore to his specifications, turns out he promised this chap a LOT more than I had agreed to and the chap then dragged me through the mud because I was the face of the business and the end result was a vehicle he didn't like.

So I shut down the business for a while and am re-branding it this year, mostly to take the name of the aforementioned cunt partner out of the business' name.

Lesson learned; work alone and trust no one. NO ONE.

Still doing inbound tech support.

It's for business-class customers, so they're somewhat easier to deal with than end-user customers. Except when they want to upgrade their services; since some certified genius decided we in the tech support department should take some of the load off of sales by handling upgrades, so sales can focus on new customers...

...and also when they're not. I cherish the irony of someone who is under non-pay disconnect complaining how we (meaning, not him) run a business.

Dang. Not much has changed in the last four years.

Working for a software company based out of San Francisco and lead a team of around 15 support specialists based in various offices around the globe. I get to go to Dublin Ireland 2-3 times a year, and San Francisco 2-3 times a year as a result.

Overall, I'm pretty happy. Got to a point in life I never quite expected I'd get to but hey!

Every once in a great while I do a search on my old Characters names to see if anyone I knew back from EQ is still mentioning the game, things we did and of course when I do I'm reminded of the good old Evercrest forums its nice to see you all are doing well. I simply can't stress enough how chagrined my past posts make me.
