Tell me about your exercise routine and diet.

WhatÂ’s your standard routine? Do you have one? What type of food do you eat? How consistent are you in timing with meals?

I have a very lax situp/pushup/squats routine until I can gtfo of this house and into a place where I can set up my gym equipment again.

I eat like shit because I travel a lot for work.

I'm pretty fucking bad about keeping anything consistent. But when I do, it's usually some good benching, curling, and some lunges or some shit. Crunches are also in the mix.

I've been half assed at this for about 3 months now. I've lost shit all for weight(3lbs, maybe), but about 7.5% body fat(bout 4 inches off my huge belly). I've started watching what I eat more now, and am going to get back into focusing on working out more, and vegging out less.

But for a good workout when I was really into it: 4 sets of pushups to failure, 4 sets of curls to failure, 3 sets of crunches at 10 or 20 reps a go, a couple sets of un weighted lunges, then collapsing and saying I was out of shape.

If you're going to do something to failure(in form, when you can no longer properly complete a rep) you should try and start with a weight that will let you get 12 reps out.

I'd be interested in what Faz has to put in.

I do a Soo Bahk Do class Monday, Wednsday, and Saturday. This usually entails fifteen minutes of warming up followed by a class that varies between the uniform being only damp over the whole thing to soaked like I had just taken a shower with it on. I missed about two weeks since I had an asthma flareup for the first time in four years and couldn't get an appointment to get new meds for two weeks so I'm back to not being able to do anything on top of that.

After a week or so I'll start doing four classes a week, then incorporate DDR/swimming laps on the off days once my body's cool with that.

My diet vaires but is mostly still pretty bad. I'm trying to include more vegetables and protien and less simple carbs and fat, but it's slow going. The ability to get cheap shitty food fast is a tempting motherfucker. Macaroni and cheese is no longer the staple it once was and has been replaced by <insert random pasta here> with gound turkey and red sauce. I usually toss some frozen vegetables into the sauce while it's cooking too.

On days I work, diet consists of:

Somewhere between 6am and 7am: Either a bowl of GoLean Crunch! with some 1% milk or an egg white omelet with spinach and chicken, cooked in coconut oil. Either way it's coupled with orange juice, an athletic multivitamin, 2 grams of glutamine and (Depending on the prior night's activities) some coffee,

Around 10am: Some form of soup, usually either chicken and wild rice or tomato florentine. Either way, I toss some spinach and occasionally some cucumber inside.

1:30pm to 2pm: A sandwich consisting of multigrain/honey wheat bread, about 1/2 a scoop of chicken salad, 1\2 a roll of deli turkey if there's one lying around, some spinach, provolone cheese, and occasionally a dab of honey mustard. Add onions once or twice a week for some extra tastyness.

4:30-5pm: Little bit of fruit

Around 7pm: protein shake, currently my flavor is Mint Chocolate.

9pm: Whatever I can make with what's lying around, often consisting of a quesadilla, sopes, sandwich, or whatever someone else happens to cook. If I'm making it, it probably involves avocado, chicken, and cheese.

If I'm still awake, I grab a second, small protein shake late at night cus if I'm awake, it usually means I got bored and started running drills.

Aside from that, I drink tea, water, and milk pretty constantly throughout the day. Mostly tea.

Workout routine

On some days, I start with a pride drill (25 jumping jacks, immediately drop down and do 25 pushups, then turn over and hit 25 situps, then hold your legs out straight 6 inches above the ground for a 10 count, immediately get back up and do 25 squat jumps) then hit dumbells for sets of a few different things, then hit a T-bar for some rows, do some inclined benching, inclined weighted situps. I go through the entire routine a second time, then end with a second pride drill for the day.

Other days I do the pride drill, leg extensions, leg presses, smith squats, stiff-leg dead lifts with dumbells, reverse leg curls.

On conditioning days, I mostly do pride drills, running, and shadow boxing with a few drills on focus mitts.

As far as other training, I can hit that up too if you're actually interested in the types of drills and shit I do with pads/other people.

At least 60 push ups and sit ups a day. Aikido kata (non-specific to the discipline) every day. Aikido on Tuesday and Thursday. Reps with free weights daily.
No soda. Ever.
I eat lots of bread, pasta, chicken, and cereal. (Honey Bunches of Oats ftw.)

PT from 0630 until 0800 every weekday morning. Hardcore manadory unit PT ack x_x

Every monday, wednesday, and friday it is a minimum four mile (often six mile) run followed by lunges, flutterkicks, and pushups to flavor. Sometimes we do sprints up a hugeass hill. God I hate that hill.

Tuesdays and thursdays are muscle failure days, which usually involve pyramids (do one pushup, one situp, then two pushups, two situps, and so on, up to 15 or so) and sometimes log PT if we screwed up badly enough Other popular events include situps until you barf and military presses until your arms fall off

Three or so days a week I hit up the gym for abs and legs stuff. Lotsa squats to keep a firm butt

I still weigh too much I lost nearly two inches in height thanks to all the running and airborne school >.<

Diet involves yummy yummy military chow. And by yummy I mean starving myself because the food sucks so badly. Most days I have two hardboiled eggs, potatoes, and a roll for breakfast. Lunch is a sandwich. Dinner is whatever the main line crap is, mostly pasta because the meat is horrible x_x

Subway gets my business a lot ;P

I used to work out religiously every day and eat only good stuff, but that has slipped lately. Though by "good stuff" it was mostly low calorie crap and I wasn't taking in nearly as many calories as I should have been, so even though I eat a lot more now I'm still levelling out on the calorie intake/burn scale.

I work out every other day now, beginning with a cardio and full body workout on an elliptical trainer, then either weights for my chest, arms, shoulders and back or hardcore weighted leg lifts for concrete abs.

Good stuff.

I walk around all day from class to class Monday, Wednesday and Friday and I have a physical job. I don't exercise outside of that, though I should. I eat like one meal a day. It's usually fast food for lunch and snacks outside of that. Not consistant with timing at all.

Yep. Eating more frequently will speed up your metabolism and get it out of "ZOMG FOOD NOWHERES" mode.

Also Mort, Cardio is best for after the weight training, if you're looking to add mass. At least that's something I've heard.

I'd actually change the way I eat though if I knew what I'm supposed to do. I mean, I don't drink soda or anything, but I eat quite a bit of chips (Doritos, Lays, so on and so forth) whenever I get hungry, eat inconsistantly, and sometimes eat large amounts at one time instead of smaller meals throughout the day.

I mean, what'd be a better thing to do? Set up like, 4 times a day where I devour a sandwich or something? I'm clueless as to what to do to actually start eating better.

And the whole "watch your calorie intake, fats, carbs, blah" gets more complicated than I actually want to get when trying to set up a better diet.

Yes, and until you're willing to do those things it's really not gonna happen. And chips aren't exactly the bestest of things to grab and start munching on. Processed foods in general, are pretty pooper, but hey, it's cheap and available, I know.

But 4-6 small meals a day is best for keeping your metabolism up. It'll make your body much more willing to part with excess bodyfat as you're getting a constant supply of food. Also, it'll help keep your blood sugar levels more steady, and that's a good thing.
