Is Guitar Hero worth the $60USD? Will I play it for 12 hours and then never touch it ala Parappa The Rappa?

I'd say yes, if only because Guitar Hero 2 is coming out in a few months and Freetar Hero might eventually be good.

If I were you I'd just buy a real guitar and learn to play it, then start a band and book shows.

Actually, this is a faggot answer. He wants to play a game, not be in a band.

But nice try ranking up on the cool scale.

Playing Guitar Hero and a real guitar are not similar in any way.

Guitar Hero is harder.

If you fancy rhythm style games, and love classic, modern, punk rock and metal.. yes. its definately worth it.

Picked up mine in January and my PS2 has seen more action in 5 months than it has in 2 years.

Dont make me slap you so hard your bucket spins around, and around, and stops sideways, thus confusing you, and making you run about London wearing your bucket, a g-string, and carrying a stick, smacking the ground while yelling "MAGICALLY DELICIOUS! MAGICALLY FUCKING DELICIOUS!"- {Tal} to Mortious

It looks like you only have to push 3 buttons.

Doesn't look as hard as some of the insane shit of Guitar Hero.

Edit: Actually, I don't think you have that many lines that close together and rapidly switching like that in Guitar Hero, so I have no clue.

There are only 3 buttons! And that's why it's sad that it's still harder than Guitar Hero.

But you do have to go for longer in Guitar Hero without fucking up too badly due to fucking full length songs, so I don't really know.

I'm gonna rock out with my cock out.

Also 5 buttons make this alot harder. Four would have been so much easier to your hands

I take it there will be a point to strum up and down so I can't use my elbow for the Whammy bar?

You shouldn't need to use your elbow for the whammy bar

As for strumming, I consistantly only strum downwards, though learning to strum up and down will definitely help when the much faster parts kick in later.

I was just trying to find a way to have my hands on all buttons at once, I could use my right thumb to stay on orange and have my elbow on the whammy bar.

Closeness doesn't matter, you can tell depending on the outline color of the note.

Really not that close at all - but not too slow. You'll really have to experiment for yourself.

Note that you can easily get through the entire game without doing a single hammer on or pull off. It will definitely make some parts easier but don't go nuts trying to get it down. It took me a while (had beaten all songs on expert) to get a good grasp of it and I still only use them sparingly.
