My good friend will love this. He has been talking about buying a PC just for EQ.
I would put money down that it looks better on the Mac than it does on the PC

The Engine will be a complete rework I am guessing, even more so than with SoL.
Perhaps a complete new engine even.
I am looking forward to it and will probably pick up a copy so I can use my second account.

Depends. Do you mean 'looks better and bogs down like you wouldn't beleive' or do you mean 'looks better with equivalent framerates to a PC'?

This is the same Verant we're talking about, right?

It'll probably be changed just enough to work on a MAC and will be buggy as all hell when first released.

I doubt Mac users will be getting anything better than PC users.

New engine: No.

Old engine shoehorned into a non-DirectX environment: yes.

Remember, PC's users are the vast, VAST majority.

If Verant is going to spend money, and they're going to spend it on either one group or the other, who do you think they're going to spend it on?

So essentially, it's going to be an entirely different game, while being the exact same game?

I'd get a PC anyways. The amount of games out for Macs are almost negative three*. PCs are the ONLY computer gaming systems.

However, this is just an opinion. Let's not start yet another flame thread on this, alright?

Verant wants to support / patch two different clients? Woo hoo!

<SYSTEM MESSAGE> GM-Admin Someor'Another: Greetings Norrath, all world servers will be coming down in thirty minutes for emergency maintenance, we are aware of the issue with Macintosh-users' headphones catching fire and are working to resolve it, thank you for your patience.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

No way would they make a new engine just to support a different platform. If anything they will 'patchwork' it to work on the mac, and it will look worse because it was not originally designed for it.

Don't expect it to look better, you're only setting yourself up for dissappointment

Not true, Warcraft 3 is out for Macs, Neverwinter Nights is being made for Macs and so is Shadowbane.
Seems as though Macs are finally getting attention from the gaming world... (Which makes me wonder if that Direct-X 8.1 Mac conversion has been completed.)

Macs have always gotten sporadic game support.

It always lags behind PC's, it's always far buggier than the PC's, and they never get any signifigant number of titles, let alone any exclusive titles.

Macs, simply, suck ass for gaming.

I know that and you know that Maradon, but as I said, it seems that more and more games are being made for Macs, especially more popular ones, or games that are expected to sell very well.
Also, if something a lot like DX 8.1 was made for Macs, it should increase graphics capabilites by quite a bit right? (I could be very wrong here.)

Blizzards usually in favor of both($$$), but support PCs first, due to the being the mass majority.

Macs have great gaming potential.. It is the developers who hold that back not the hardware.

And I said, no more games are being made for Macs now than there were before. Macs didn't suddenly recieve a shot of attention, they're getting about the same attention they've always gotten, and from the same people too.

I was under the impression that they already had a direct-x equivalent. Whatever the case, it doesn't change much. Until you can install windows programs on a Mac without using some spotty, patchwork, half-assed emulator, Macs just won't have the games that PC's do.

Bleh, if anything, Macs will be limited in gaming because it's like a gaming console you have to upgrade every 2 months, and it's a lot more expensive.

Why not just buy a PS2 or X-Box and call it a day?

What is so hard to upgrade in a Mac?
I can go down to COmpUSA and get anything from a sound blaster live to a GeForce4 (which came out for the MAC before the PC)

Maradon Mac OSX is leaps and bounds beyond the older versions of MAC OS. It is simple and efficient. not to mention that it has a Linux core

If you could install Windows on a Mac, I'd buy one in a second.

As it stands, Windows-based machines just have more support, more potential, and more versatility.

And if you ask me they're even easier to use, despite what any fuggin commercial tells you

Well since I have them side by side right now I can tell you that ease of use is about the same although the edge still goes to the mac.
MAC OS is still a smarter OS without a lot os the behind the scenes mess.
