EDIT: meant this as an edit, not a new post. Too late to edit now

The way the questions are weighed is kind of wonky though. For example, my opinion on desirable experience and same-sex marriage definitely don't weigh as heavy as some of the other questions.

It is still a pretty good quiz though, and you can get a better idea by looking at the bar graph thing at the bottom.

In mine, for example, Richardson should probably be swapped with John Edwards.

John Edwards is likely who I will vote for in the primary, at this point at least.

You're probably pretty far to one side of the fence on one issue, like the war, and pretty far to the other side of the fence on another, like taxes or something.

I figured it out. It was because I said senate experience was important. The only other thing that she scored high on relative to my position is same-sex marriage.

This election year is awesome for republicans. I agree more strongly with more of our candidates than I ever though possible. They're all about 20% short of the perfect candidate, but the missing parts vary from candidate to candidate and is never a very huge issue.

For democrats, at least it's easy to choose. No matter who you vote for in the primaries, you're getting bigger government spending, higher taxes, and, at least ostensibly, an unconditional surrender in Iraq. So one is as good as another really.

The funny thing is, I don't support that at all, I'm in 100% support of the war and keeping it funded as we need to support the troops.

It's pretty easy to support a war "100%" when we have an all volunteer army and actually have tax cuts during war-time.

Sorry to derail, but I was just looking at this thread when I read that statement.

Back on topic: I JUST noticed the sliders on the side of the poll. That makes it much better, and yeah, it did adjust Edwards to second place on my poll.

Ron Paul: Nice guy, too laissez fair for the community, followers are completely insane.

Hilary Clinton: Unapologetically evil, see Jon Irenicus.

Barack Obama: Nice, but too weak-willed and sissy.

Fred Thompson: Probably not.

Everyone else: WHO?

Couple this with the fact that Democrats are still in-fighting at every available opportunity and the sheer amount of hatred some people have for the other party, see Noxhil, and we're basically left with Guiliani.

Bush won the second election because, at that point, it wasn't about electing one dude or another, but electing to spite the other people. When was this "lieberal/republikkan" crap at its highest?

If we don't break out of that, it'll be another shitty president, and definitely Republican, because the rabid underdogs, almost always Democrats, will be busy alienating everyone undecided.

What? I don't hate the party, just most of their candidates suck right now. Most of them are too concerned about supporting Bush and toeing the party line. Everyone but Ron Paul (and to an extent, Tancredo) still believe we should have "invaded Iraq because it was the right thing to do." The last thing the U.S. needs is more moronic warhawks in the executive branch. And the problem with Ron Paul is that his solution to every problem is to scrap the institution... we can't repeal the 16th amendment.

I hope you mean "regarding the war" because almost every candidate is specifically setting themselves apart from Bush. Giuliani in particular is running on a platform of securing the border and imposing strict spending reductions on government, both huge failings of the Bush administration.

quote:

Get used to it, because the war is a losing issue for Democrats. Almost all the news out of Iraq in the past four months has been good, with violence down 70%, Anbar sunni sheiks rallied to the coalition's side and advocating cooperation with Shiites, and troop reduction facilitated by actual ground conditions instead of arbitrary political metrics right around the corner.

The war was only unpopular when it wasn't going so well. The pollsters asked folks how the felt about the war, but they forgot to ask why.

And then on the other side of the fence we have Hillary (who you will undoubtedly be voting for in a little less than a year) refusing to promise a troop withdrawal while Obama makes a complete fool of himself again and again.
