Dungeons and Dragons Online: Baldur's Gate

Something like that might be cool, of course it'd be nothing like Turbine's instance based MMO.

The "Jedi Problem" was only a problem because of the freakishly elevated status Jedi were given. While the KOTOR games focused on the Jedi, and Jedi were powerful, the engine was based heavily on the d20 Star Wars game, and in that Jedi were just as killable as any other character.

SWG just put Jedi on an impossible pedestal which skewed the game like a black hole warps spacetime, then did half-ass "repairs" to try and remedy their cosmic error.

It's entirely possible to have Jedi without things going to hell.

Of course. Everything can be toned down. Jedi can be turned into paraplegics with glowing sticks, but this will not be true to the source material and I cannot even imagine how badly the (SW) community would react to that.

Well, actually, I can. I've read a few threads on the SW:G boards after the change.

Edit: Saying that, if one company can do it, it's probably Bioware. But I will not be easy.

One of the things established by the prequels, based on comments from the original movies, and reinforced time and again by the EU, is that Jedi are perfectly capable of being taken out by non-Jedi. Yes they do have special powers, yes it does give them an edge if they're allowed to choose the scenario, but let's be honest here; all the main characters you see in the novels and so forth are just that: MAIN CHARACTERS. The protagonist of most stories has some quality or trait that sets them apart. Qui-Gonn, Obi-Wan, Mace, Yoda...all masters, Anakin supposedly had more mojo than the rest, Luke is some prophesied badass, the Emperor was the embodiment of the dark side. The protagonist in KOTOR was the former dark lord of the Sith, the protagonist of KOTOR 2 recovers from having the Force abandon him. None of these people are "average" characters. They're all extraordinary.

There's a reason the numbers of Jedi in KOTOR (thousands) gets cut down to so few by the movie era and it has little to do with all the badasses sucking up the good mojo.

I disagree with your conclusions.

It is true that Jedi are killed in the movies and the EU, but that does not dimish their, excuse the term, "überness". If we look at the occasions were Jedi were overpowered by "mundanes" successfully, we see that one of four things happened:

a) They were outnumbered so badly it didn't matter anymore how good they were (Clone Wars, Sith Wars)
b) The were completly taken by surprise (Order 66)
c) Things were utterly beyond their control (orbital bombardment, gas attacks)

or

d) They were taken out by exceptional mundane adversaries that possess "character shields", almost as good as you accuse the Jedi characters of having. (Boba Fett, General Grievous, Aurra Sing)

A Jedi is not the equal, but the superior of every mundane character. At least in every major situation that is important in a MMORPG.

The same thing is happening with computers and MMORPGs that happened when the reality shows exploded their smelly messes all over my TV.

Not that MMORPGs are bad... but wouldnt it be great to have one that is original and doesnt rehash a series/move/game title? (EQ doesnt count, as that is about as traditional fantasy that you can get.)

Not all genere-bending titles are good or even original, and not all "rehashed" fantasy worlds are bad or even uncreative.

In fact, it's my experience that the vast majority of "genere-bending" results in relative crap.

My point was that simply being genre-bending is totally meaningless, and it's kinda dumb to limit yourself to only genre-bending titles.
