Anyone have any predictions or discussions?

ACES! Another post by Sean:
I thought it was supposed to be a sequel, not a remake. Oh well.
Given that a lot of the scenes in the commercials have been the same as those from the original movie, I'm pretty sure it's a remake.
I really want it to be good, I really do. Depp has a hard act to follow though Vorago fucked around with this message on 05-30-2005 at 12:40 PM.
I loved the original film, but I am excited to see this one. I just have to keep in mind they aren't really related to each other. Well they are cousins, but like twice removed.

Actually I believe it is neither a remake or sequel, rather a different interpretation of the book.
Kinda like 'Batman Begins'
I'm so excited to see this movie - Just to see what it'll be like...
and aparently the Gene Wilder Version was a remake of an earlier one called "Willy Wonka"

I guess in the new movie when the kids do something stupid, they die instead of just being asked to leave... or whatever.
That is fucking awesome.
Makes me happy.

Wtf...they don't die in the book.

True, but Tim Burton is directing it so now we get dead fat kids in our candy.
Some people are like Slinkys... Not really good for anything, But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Yeah but that drastic of a change (if it's so) is even further from the book than the Gene Wilder version (which really wasn't that inaccurate)

Yeah, that'd be a bit much even for Tim Burton.

Still seems like it'll be pretty good, though. Lokii fucked around with this message on 06-01-2005 at 05:56 PM.

Looks interesting, though it looks less accurate to the book than the old one. I don't remember squirrels being in the book at all, and I hope the scene they were in wasn't the golden goose part. :/ It looked like it might've been.Still seems like it'll be pretty good, though.
Are you kidding? There are no geese in the book, only squirrels. Maybe you only saw the movie.

orly. I have a bad memory, sorry. It's been nine years since I've read that book.
It looks pretty darn accurate in my opinion, with some modern twists of course, like the Japanese school kids rushing to buy the chocolate, as I don't recall that Wonka's golden tickets were sent world wide in the book, just to Britain in fact. It's also kinda weird that Depp seems to be portraying Wonka as more the eccentric factory owner than the kid-friendly Gene Wilder.

Its not a retelling of the Batman story, its a "Missing Chapter" deal.

No, it's just a new Batman movie. It has nothing to do with any previous Batman movies.

Thank god for that. Recent batman movies took a serious dive into "Power Ranger" territory.

Hummm, speaking of an old Batman, I wonder if they'll ever make a movie based off of Batman Beyond?

+Joker is supposed to be in part three

I hope not. It was a good series, but it wouldn't translate well into a movie.
And the Joker better be played by Mark Hamill. Jack Nicholson couldn't pull it off again,
It's not something people hear about.
The Wonka movie is, if anything, a more correct telling of the original story. Batman Begins is a complete reboot of the franchise. It's no more correct or incorrect than the version of the story told in the Michael Keaton "Batman". It has no ties to the original series of movies (thank goodness).
I suppose that they both are retellings of a story that's been told before...and both are in theory closer to the way things should be, but it still makes my ass twitch to hear Batman compared to Willy Wonka.

You might want to head to a proctologist to have that checked out. Or it might be a Karnaj waiting to happen.
