I haven't had too many in the Horde. You rarely get the overly stupid but you do get a lot of dicks. Ninja-looters and GBN rollers are pretty frequent.
I've had a few good ones in the Alliance, though. A few of my favorites...
1) Going after Tharil'zun in Redridge. We try to go into the fortress in Stonewatch Keep (thinking he's in there). An overeager Hunter overpulls. Warrior screams: "HE'S NOT IN THERE!!!!!11"
Now, overpulling is a bitch, but when it happens, you usually fight the group and survive with only a little time lost. I go into the help the Hunter and the Warlock (lagging badly), offers minimal aid. The Warrior continues to scream: "HE'S NOT IN THERE!!11" and runs around in circles, no help at all.
In the end, we wiped (except for the Warrior) with one mob left.
That Warrior later went on to get us all killed by refusing to pull back.
2) Stockades group. Three priests, one Warrior (me), one Paladin.
We were hurting for DPS as it stood, and the Paladin kept rushing off to fight adds. So our workload doubled, as he refused to focus on one enemy.
Other gems from the Paladin:
"WE CANT TAKE HIM WE NEED A STARTEGIE!!!11" screamed as he jumped around like a headless chicken while we tried to take a Defias Insurgent.
"Whats a nerf?" (understandable)
"Whats AC?" (stretching it)
"Whats aggro?" (okay, goodbye)
------
Me : "OK, we need to pull the named out of the room with the forty beetles as he will aggro them"
Warrior charges mob, begins melee'ing, all the non-kos bettles help out their boss and we are promptly swarmed
Me : "See, this is why I said "Pull" instead of "Get us killed"
Warrior : "Sorry, my first time in here, wasn't reading chat"
Well then, that makes it all better...
We approach group of mobs... mage launches pyroblast, fireball, begins spamming arcane explosion until out of mana then runs around in a wide circle typing "heal" "heal" "heal" jumping over terrain and crap making it impossible to help him. Every. single. time.
Me : "STOP RUNNING, if you run in circles we can't hit anything and can't get it off you"
Mage : "Sorry, I got into that habit while solo'ing"
I do wonder how effective his solo'ing is where he runs around in circles after something attacks him... on a related note he died so many times during the instance not only did all of his equip begin breaking but his 'can't rez yet' timer was up to 20min. He died close to every pull it seemed.
Rogue : "You need to come get me stuff is here"
Me : "Just sneak past them we already killed them once, no worries"
Rogue : "I can't, there are mobs"
Me : "Ummm... stealth?"
Rogue : "It doesn't work like that"
Swear to god this was all from the SAME GROUP. Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warrior, Shaman (me). On paper it was such an amazing group that would destroy everything in our way...
Instead we wiped on the beetles alone like four times. Least my second run through there today with a different group went far, far better... which sin't saying a whole lot I suppose
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TAUNT????" Because you were running around like an idiot.
Rest of group: "....."
Then after explaining what it did, she still didn't believe us.
Oh and any shadow speced priest in the lower lvl instances. Most of them switch at higher lvls so that hasnt been a problem in a long time.

Whats wrong with shadow spec priests?
They think they're supposed to be damage dealers in instances.
They're not. In ANY instance. You can just get away with being shadow specced in anything monestary (maybe Uldaman sans bossfight) and lower.
One stupid priest I had the misfortune of grouping with would just nuke and use shadowform, then die every other pull. Most of my hate for them is based on that person... ;p
I have not grouped with any shadow speced priests since I hit 60, most just spec that so they can lvl up then drop it so they become much better in groups.
INSANE flexibility, oodles of mezzing in those humanoid dungeons (Poly, elemental/demon and humanoid mez oh my!), and totems out the wazoo. Not to mention the best AE in the game.. PW:S + Arcane explosion + hellfire = pwnt.
Myself, Im full shadow spec and only use my DOT in group, then its all about slamming renewal on, with the occasional PW:S or a large heal.
edit:
Obviouslly, I use mind blast on runners, or when a mob is really low on life and we have adds and need to clear through stuff. Elvish Crack Piper fucked around with this message on 02-03-2005 at 03:58 AM.

5% threat reduction from your heals may not sound like a lot, but when YOU are squishy and your warrior is not, it makes ALL the difference in the world.
BRD's fun with a 'lock and priest combo, though. Mind control for the win, baby.
The odd times I run with pickup groups seem to be about half and half. Nothing really spectacular in either direction, though...
Its either get 20% reduction to aggro, 5% boosted chance of crits with holy spells, and 10% better heals, or be able to get Focused casting. Which looks really good for soloing, as well as imp PW:S and IMP PW:F, but the healing part is probably a better splash. Would also let me get the really spell, holy fire, which might be a decent opening ability were it not for shadowform, dunno. Would probably stick the extra 2 points into improved flash heal. Make it nearly guarenteed.
quote:Any shadow spec priest can heal just fine. The difference between Holy spec and Shadow spec won't matter much if the Priest and Warrior have any idea what they're doing. Though if you're a priest and not on a PvP server, you're better off putting more points into holy at lv 60, that's for sure.
qwertyu had this to say about Cuba:
Nothing when they are soloing. Everything when I have to pick up their slack. To be fair I have grouped with some can still heal just fine when mainly shadow speced at lower lvls.
Also when I was in Ashenvale finishing up the "Warsong Supplies" quest there was a level 26 mage who wanted me to join her group in attacking Astranaar. So I ask her "aren't the guards there level 40?" and she says "yeah, but to the 34 warrior and the 35 preist and the 36 warlock we should be able to kill everything no problem." I said "...yeah, sure, I'll be there in five minutes" and proceeded to head back to the crossroads as far away from them as possible.
What an ass.

Being a full Holy spec helps when the Warrior doesn't know what they're doing though. When you have a combination of a good warrior and a Holy Spec priest things go pretty damn smoothly.
Was on with my Alliance rogue. Was looking for Fangore. A paladin came up to me and /invited me, no talking, just /invite.
I accepted, as I knew another would help. He then invited a warrior as well.
The Paladin would only talk in 2 or 3 word sentances, if ever talk. He would never respond to questions. I'm not even sure if English was his native tongue.
Whenever we got close to a group of Gnolls, I would invariably ask them to wait, so I could sap at least one, and make the pull more manageable. They would usually charge right in, sometimes all surviving, sometimes losing one person.
Also, frequently, in the middle of battle, the Paladin would leave the battle to go mine some ore! I can understand wanting to mine some ore from time to time, but at least wait until after the damned battle, idiot!
When we found Fangore, he had about 8 other Gnolls near him. I asked the two how they wanted to handle this. Their response, again, was a blind rush. Needless to say, we all died. (I couldn't even Vanish, as I used up all my flash powder with the earlier idiocies of these two.)
After this, I said "an emergency just came up", then logged, just to "politely" get away from these idiots.
OMG THE OTHER ROGUE MADE ME WANT TO STRANGLE PEOPLE.
It's true I'm pretty elitist when it comes to playing with others of my class, but this girl... didn't know anything at all. It truly sucked when we were at the Scarlet area, a place that could easily be cleared by 5 people btw, and she was nominated for sap pulling. Yeah, let's NOT distract so we aggro 6+ mobs! And the one time she does use distract, she makes all the mobs face her. wtf.
I loved how she had the nerve to go "lol" at my build when I stated I didn't have improved sap in favor of sheer DPS. Improved Sap, wtf, I'm not gonna waste points there. It's nice but I'd rather have the points elsewhere. But that's another story.
She was also one of those generic "i'll loot all the waters even though casters here need it for a quest" girls. It also didn't help she was in the same guild as the raid leader. Ok. Awesome. The raid leader wanted to hit the cannon master again, probably to get shadowcraft for her lovely roguette that caused us to wipe a few times.
And the raid leader? Won't even go there. She is what gives hunters a horrible rep.
Oh yeah. I also got to play main tank most of that raid, because we lacked a warrior and the paladins refused to off-tank stuff our healers aggroed. Also for the bosses too, despite me doing anything I could to keep aggro off me in the first place. GRRR. And the hunter (not Cobalt, he rocked there imo ) bitched at the mage for not sheeping the add that her pet offtanked. ....................................
On the bright side, I got in contact with a kickass priest who leads 1-2 groups raids regularly. Addy fucked around with this message on 02-03-2005 at 01:32 PM.

Another priest? Stop meeting them! You've already replaced me with Daed. Are you going to replace Daed with this one? Next up Rosa? Then Khal. Then Cobbi? Who'll be left?

I'd never replace them.
I thought it was funny because RYTS keeps harrassing her to join. Hell, they offered Daed 15g to join them yesterday.
EDIT: Let's hit Maraudon today for Vyle.
EDIT2: I also take back some of what I say about sap... it's one of the only skills a subtlety-with-sword/mace specced rogue could pick up in order to get prep. *shrug* Addy fucked around with this message on 02-03-2005 at 02:21 PM.

On the topic of the thread though.. I remember one time we did a bunch of quests in a Dwarven fortress. I can't remember the name of it. Anyway, this guy in our group was lower level and kept aggroing everything on us. He wouldn't stay close to the group or listen when we told him to. We had 3 complete wipeouts because he shot arrows to a second story and aggroed the entire place onto us.
I kicked him from the group AND the guild.

Actually, he criticized you for taking sword spec. Besides, you're not abusing a bug by taking seal fate. Long discussion for that though.

FYI, if its the place I'm thinking of (Dun Garok), that's a bug actually. When you move past a certain point on the lower floor the entire upper floor will rush you. In fact, the only way to avoid it is by dying and rezzing yourself past that line or upstairs. So it may have been the bug and not necessarily his fault.

Eh, contrary to popular belief sword spec is NOT bugged, and actually works. You only get the buff icon if it goes off right when something dies.
Smack him for taking vile poisons, btw. I see no reason to take that over instant, since instant is the best DPS poison. 10% to proc is better than uh, 10-30 extra damage.
And Ghostly Strike? wtf ;( Addy fucked around with this message on 02-03-2005 at 03:57 PM.

It is nasty there. We were steadily creeping in then. BAM. Dwarves freaking everywhere. I'm the only one of the group that didn't die. Hail vanish. Was wondering what caused that.

A few days ago, I was running through Ashenvale and a bunch of Horde players were raiding Astranaar. I was way out in the middle of higher level territory so I couldn't just rush over to help defend the place. What's the big interesting in Astranaar for Horde?
I'm an individual. Just like everyone else!

Wait you're a rogue, you attack at like .5c compared to me.

Because the Alliance is CONSTANTLY raiding and wiping out the Horde base of Splintertree Post in Ashenvale, so usually for revenge the Horde goes and does the same to Astranaar being pretty much Splinterpost's equal
On the weekends I am actually sort of surprised when I fly into Splintertree and find all the NPCs alive, heh

Yeah, rogues whine on the boards about it not working, because you don't get any warning on the combat log like you do with thrash blade and other extra attack weapons.

Healing people, I'd imagine.
I figured any sort of organized PvP would deal more damage than a healer could deal with, the 5 fire mage DPS mentioned somewhere came to a DPS of 1200 or so, with alot of that coming from a simo cast pyro blast.
I hope I'm wrong, I could always quaff an invisibility potion then go cast psycic scream in the middle of someones group.

Sorry, no funny stories of crappy groups here
