So, uh, Doomsday and any five great cards.
"Ok, I'm at 350 life and there are no cards in my library. I'll cast Doomsday, lose 175 point of life and get to pull another 5 cards that happened to be in my graveyard back into my hand."
quote:
A sleep deprived Random Insanity Generator stammered:
I'd use one of thoes in a Necropotence deck personally."Ok, I'm at 350 life and there are no cards in my library. I'll cast Doomsday, lose 175 point of life and get to pull another 5 cards that happened to be in my graveyard back into my hand."
Necropotence + Energy Field + Pestilence...?
Cast doomsday then play that killer combo!
Though. if you use Morality Shift from Judgement, you can get your time limit up to 9 turns.

This combo works!

Read Phage's text more carefully. Unless you meant for it to be an instant loss combination. [ 04-07-2003: Message edited by: MorbId ]
Looks like a very close to end game card to me.

Willias attempted to be funny by writing:
Don't think that's the way the card works RIG. Looks like you pull 5 cards out of your library and graveyard and take all the rest of the cards out of game, then put those 5 cards in your library in the order of your choosing.Looks like a very close to end game card to me.
Nope.
You choose 5 cards from your library and your graveyard. Remove what you dont choose. Put the 5 you chose back in any order.
Sets up any combo you can think of.

It's a killer NONBO

Except that unless you're playing a Necropotence deck, you have 5 turns to win, or you die.
If you have no cards to draw, you lose.. remember?

Random Insanity Generator had this to say about Tron:

Thats why you set up a combo that WILL win you the game no matter what.

Unless the card says "Your opponent loses the game", there's always a counter move....
1 colorless, 1 black... Simulacrum. I *hated* that card.
quote:
When Phage the Untouchable comes into play, if you didn't play it from your hand, you lose the game.
Wait just a goddamn second...doesn't that mean if you play that card everybody except you loses?

Damn near.... If you can hit them... And it's not hard to make that happen.
Cast Lure on a pissant creature (or my personal fav, cast it on a creature that you throw Gaseous Form on) and then attack with the 2 of them.

Maradon XP had this to say about Cuba:

No. "You" in that case refers to only Phage's controller.
I like my Phage deck. Put Filth in the graveyard - creatures I control have swampwalk. Against a black deck, that's enough. Otherwise, Taineted Well or Zombie Trailblazer turn any land into a swamp.
Problem solved. [ 04-07-2003: Message edited by: MorbId ]

Maradon XP obviously shouldn't have said:

Any judge would rule a "you" as the person playing the card, not anyone else.
It prevents people from tossing it in the graveyard and throwing it out for 2 mana or something, instead of the seven (Eight?) it actually costs.
I wonder if a confiscate would take the "Comes into play" rule.. Hmm. But it'd be already in play, it'd just come under your control.. so if your opponent has a control deck, you pull four dark rituals and the phage, then cast, and he confiscates before you can attack.. you're doomed.

You have to play it from your hand, or you lose.

Oh man, I remember some fun I used to have back in the day.
Craw Giant with Trample, Rampage: 2, then use Lure, and venemous breath on him.
Lots of dead creatures, and a damn near dead player [ 04-07-2003: Message edited by: Falaanla Marr ]

That's what I thought, but how could the card's controller possibly not have brought the card into the game?

If it comes into play from somewhere OTHER than your hand.
Meaning Animate Dead, Mind Controling it from another player (I think that counts), Raise Dead, etc, etc.
This is to MAKE you pay the HUGE casting cost. Otherwise I could have this bastard out on turn 3.
Turn 1: Draw, Discard Phage.
Turn 2: Draw, Drop Swamp.
Turn 3: Draw, Drop Swamp, cast Animate Dead.

I'd have to disagree on the mind control bit, and only because the creature is already in the game, he's just coming under your control. He doesn't leave then reenter the playfield..

A friend of mine just uses confiscate, or the Preacher to control other creatures.
Works well, too. Wish I had one, then I'd take that damned thorn elemental.
On second thought... ouch... that wasn't a good idea.

That is why I love my black/white/green deck. I can pull out an annihilate if I want. And still heal myself with Hero's reunion! (WG, you gain seven life)
Let's say your opponent has brought her out, and is gonna use her to end the game in a couple of turns (that's how long your defences will last).
Use Doomsday to help get THIS card out. Read what it does, and read what Phage does. Once that card hits the table and you use it, your opponent has ONE ROUND to kill you. Less, if you can destroy your card after you use it.
Stuff like that is what Doomsday is for.

Lenlalron Flameblaster's account was hax0red to write:
The job of Tawnos' coffin can be done by many, easier to find cards. One of them being flicker. That's a nice card.
Yes, but I haven't played in ages, and know not of those cards. So, I went with the one that I knew of that would do the trick.
quote:
MorbId probably says this to all the girls:
I believe Astral Slide would be just as lethal for Phage, and much more useful in general.
Yep, flicker owns her too
Oh, and doomsday has probably the hardest infinite combo to pull off involving regrowth, black lotus, stroke, and something else to pull of an infinite stroke
lemee see if I cant find the actualy combo
quote:
Death of Rats enlisted the help of an infinite number of monkeys to write:
I would use that to get Terravore, Miria, Catastrophe(sp?), Facless butcher and one other card of choice, maybe a land or creature that gives some mana.
Why the hell would you look for a terravore? It's only good when there is land in people's graveyards.
Anyway, the point of cards like that is to search for things like erratic explosion and draco, and a lightning blast to finish him off.
You could make a deck like this:
4x Insidious Dreams
4x Doomsday
4x Draco
4x Scroll Rack
4x Erratic Explosion
4x Kaboom
4x Lightning Blast
4x Flame Jet
2x Landslide
2x Starstorm
2x Flaring Pain
2x Volrath's Stronghold
4x Barren Moor
4x Polluted Mire
4x Forgotten Cave
4x Smoldering Crater
4x Blasted Lanscape
On most draws, this should hit for 16 by the 6th or 7th turn, and again for 16 on either the next turn or the one after.
