Can anyone think of any useful combos with the card 'Doomsday'? I just can't seem to find a use for it. Any suggestions?

Whatever cards you can win with in less than 5 turns.

It's not meant to be comboed. It's meant to set up brilliant combos that will win you the game.

So, uh, Doomsday and any five great cards.

I'd use one of thoes in a Necropotence deck personally.

"Ok, I'm at 350 life and there are no cards in my library. I'll cast Doomsday, lose 175 point of life and get to pull another 5 cards that happened to be in my graveyard back into my hand."

Cast doomsday then play that killer combo!

It looks like it would be dependent on your situation.

Though. if you use Morality Shift from Judgement, you can get your time limit up to 9 turns.

Read Phage's text more carefully. Unless you meant for it to be an instant loss combination.

Don't think that's the way the card works RIG. Looks like you pull 5 cards out of your library and graveyard and take all the rest of the cards out of game, then put those 5 cards in your library in the order of your choosing.

Looks like a very close to end game card to me.

In a Necropotence deck you're HOLDING all your cards. Any cards that MIGHT be in the graveyard can be pulled back with Doomsday and the effect of Necropotence..

Nope.

You choose 5 cards from your library and your graveyard. Remove what you dont choose. Put the 5 you chose back in any order.

Sets up any combo you can think of.

Except that unless you're playing a Necropotence deck, you have 5 turns to win, or you die.

If you have no cards to draw, you lose.. remember?

Cast Lure on a pissant creature (or my personal fav, cast it on a creature that you throw Gaseous Form on) and then attack with the 2 of them.

No. "You" in that case refers to only Phage's controller.

I like my Phage deck. Put Filth in the graveyard - creatures I control have swampwalk. Against a black deck, that's enough. Otherwise, Taineted Well or Zombie Trailblazer turn any land into a swamp.

Problem solved.

Any judge would rule a "you" as the person playing the card, not anyone else.

It prevents people from tossing it in the graveyard and throwing it out for 2 mana or something, instead of the seven (Eight?) it actually costs.

I wonder if a confiscate would take the "Comes into play" rule.. Hmm. But it'd be already in play, it'd just come under your control.. so if your opponent has a control deck, you pull four dark rituals and the phage, then cast, and he confiscates before you can attack.. you're doomed.

The reason it says "from your hand" is to keep the controller from dropping it in the graveyard, then reanaimating it for two mana and some life, or just four mana.

If it comes into play from somewhere OTHER than your hand.

Meaning Animate Dead, Mind Controling it from another player (I think that counts), Raise Dead, etc, etc.

This is to MAKE you pay the HUGE casting cost. Otherwise I could have this bastard out on turn 3.

Turn 1: Draw, Discard Phage.
Turn 2: Draw, Drop Swamp.
Turn 3: Draw, Drop Swamp, cast Animate Dead.

I'd have to disagree on the mind control bit, and only because the creature is already in the game, he's just coming under your control. He doesn't leave then reenter the playfield..

Phage is one nasty creature. But, she DOES answer the question from the first post.

Let's say your opponent has brought her out, and is gonna use her to end the game in a couple of turns (that's how long your defences will last).

Use Doomsday to help get THIS card out. Read what it does, and read what Phage does. Once that card hits the table and you use it, your opponent has ONE ROUND to kill you. Less, if you can destroy your card after you use it.

Stuff like that is what Doomsday is for.

Why the hell would you look for a terravore? It's only good when there is land in people's graveyards.

Anyway, the point of cards like that is to search for things like erratic explosion and draco, and a lightning blast to finish him off.

You could make a deck like this:

4x Insidious Dreams
4x Doomsday
4x Draco
4x Scroll Rack
4x Erratic Explosion
4x Kaboom
4x Lightning Blast
4x Flame Jet
2x Landslide
2x Starstorm
2x Flaring Pain

2x Volrath's Stronghold
4x Barren Moor
4x Polluted Mire
4x Forgotten Cave
4x Smoldering Crater
4x Blasted Lanscape

On most draws, this should hit for 16 by the 6th or 7th turn, and again for 16 on either the next turn or the one after.

Wait for the game to progress so theres alot of land cards, pull out Terravore, then faceless buctherer it, have Miria out, Play catatsrophy for destroy all creatures, (brings back Terravore unharmed), copy catatsrophy for destroy all lands, and you have a high level terravore and everyone else is defenseless. I was able to do that and get a 34/34 terravore. Yes, its a bit of over kill, but it gets the job done if not a little flashy. It does Require a lot of land cards, most of the time, i have to do terravore then the facless butcher and wait for next turn to do the rest.
