I woke up in the middle of my computer room floor a while ago. Well, more accurately I should say I woke up and laid there for a while before I realized I was on the floor. Apparently some time this evening I had a syncopial attack. After staring at the ceiling for a bit and trying to figure out how exactly in the hell I ended up on the floor, I tried to get up and quickly realized the reason; my wonderful case of atrial fibrillation returned and struck me down. Trying to get up put enough stress on my body that it began manifesting itself again.
For those of you who don't know what atrial fibrillation is, allow me to give you a short primer:
The human heart consists of four chambers. The two lower, larger chambers are called ventricles, and two smaller, upper chambers called atria. In a normal heartbeat, the atria and the ventricles contract in sequence to pump blood through the body. A pair of pacemakers on the heart coordinate the effort and ensure that everything goes according to plan.
My problem is that one of my pacemakers is broke. The pacemaker that controls my atria doesn't always play by the rules. Whenever I get stressed, something changes in my body and all hell breaks loose. My atria start flippiting and floppiting (and sometimes even stopping completely) without any rhyme or reason. This is quite noticable as a strong, very forboding-feeling thumping sensation in my chest.
So anyway, as I started to get up off the floor, I start to feel the thumping and decide to abandon the plan of getting up and instead concentrate on the breathing exercises my doctor taught me last time this happened (imagine trying to exhale as hard as you can but without actually letting any breath out).
I have no idea how long I was on the floor, since I'm not entirely sure when I passed out. Not too long though; just a couple minutes at most. A quick spot check reveals that I didn't hurt anything on the way down though, which is good. On the plus side of things, I was able to get things under control pretty quick, enough to get up and get on with life (though I'm basically going to be living on aspirin for a while to thin my blood). On the negative side, I can still feel my heart going pitter-patter and it's gonna be like this for a few days at least, assuming I can relax, which is doubtful. Last time this happened I ended up in the hospital for a week.
So basically, if I disappear for a while suddenly, that's why, since if I end up going to the hospital I'm probably not going to stop by the boards before I go. And if I go into cardiac arrest or have a stroke, I'm going to add to my will to ban anyone who starts a flamewar in my absence. So be good. Or else.
Hope it doesn't come to that.
You need to relax to keep your heart from going POP, but the tension of whats happening to you keeps you from relaxing. Its a very unfortunate feed back cycle.
I'll give a word up to the Big Man for you Drysart. Can't hurt Keep on ticking man.
Breathe in, breathe out...
Relax.
Cause, dying would suck.
But damn, you hang in there Drys.
Get better soon!

At first I thought it was the Subway sandwich. I'm sorry.

And no hospitalization, either. Who would keep your jar warm?

You'll be OK pal.
Poor bebe. :::hugs::: not fun at all.
You should instruct your mods to shut down any flaem wars the minute they start. At least for a while.
There is no reason to let it get this far. If people have a problem they need to work it out whith whomever they have the problem with.
I know this is not the only contributing factor towards your stress. But it does affect it.
Most of all, I wish for you to get better soon. And do what you need to do to take care of yourself. We all care about you and love you.
Many blessings,
Gen
*hugs tight* Try to relax and take care of yourself... we luv ya.
Maybe you already have seen one but if you haven't then ask to see a cardiologist. My mom had the same problem and her dumbass health provider wouldn't allow it. Anyway she ended up in the hospital and they put a pacemaker in her. we're talking a 20 to 30 thousand dollar surgery, 8 months off of work, and endless combinations of drugs that made her moody, forgetful, depressed, and angry, and guess what. She didn't even need the pacemaker after all. She got new health insurance and they sent her to the specialist she requested, he ordered a test that the previous provider had refused. It came up positive, she had an outpatient surgery and hasn't used the pacemaker since.
REST!
Forget about these damn boards. They're nowhere near as important as your health. Get your ass in bed, if you can, and rest.

Drys, take a rest. People can handle things decently enough without you for whatever period of time you need to recover.

Hope all's better after your rest.
I think it'd be a good gesture our ailing chieftan if we could go through these few weeks without fighting.
Whaddaya all say?
PS. Dont die, yo.
