Over the last few months, me and a few others (lazy bastards they are, all of them) have been working on an EQ emulation server using EQemu. It's more or less complete, we're just waiting for our current host to get their things together.
The server will be free, all you need to do is basically download a couple files (so EQ will connect to the right LoginServer) and use the guide provided on the Server Boards to connect.
The server boards have a crude list of some features I'm going to include. EQEmu is opensource (C++), which makes it fairly easy to tweak the game any way you want, really.
Right now, EQemu is in playable condition, but more an EQ alpha than anything else. Most skills are broken, mob AI is crude, spells are partially broken, etc. Fortunately, the dev team are rather kickass (The emu is actually only six months old), and getting new stuff done fast.
The used world for now will be Odus/parts of Velious. The story does not take place on Norrath, and I do not intend to use VI's setup.
Anyways, to the point. Anyone that's interested in playing is welcome. If you'd be interesting in helping out, we could also use a couple good monkey workers. (especially a fugging C++ coder, since I'm a raving newbie at it)
Also, I'm very open to suggestions to the server, class balance, or anything in general really.
So yeah. This has been a long enough post. I end it now.

I would love to join with the server. I first discovered EQemu when it was a few months (weeks?) old. I downloaded it, set up MySQL and had some fun with it. Then I accidentally deleted the EQ folder I was using for it.
