Yeah, you only need normal EQ, though you'll be missing out on some zones.

We are definately using Old World and Velious, with a possibility of some Kunark. No Luclin yet.

The server is currently not up, as the hoster for the dedicated server is not ready quite yet. The only time the server is up now is when it is hosted on Za's machine and usually only for testing purposes. He can only handle 5 or so people before it's too laggy.
but changing whatever I change .. I will still be able to play Normal EQ on my Normal server?

Yes, it is. Make a backup file of the original eqhost and then switch between them.
