Jalal's never heard the term before, and I found it incredibly hard to describe in words.
Well, that's what an extreme soccer mom is to me anyway.

As a child I did. It was stupid.
It does get better with age, though.
"Go Megan! Kick the shit out of that ball!"
We cheered the only way we knew how, football style, y0.
Some of those women made me sick, "It's okay Billy, get up, he didn't mean to trip you."
Bleh. Then the teams hugged after the match. This is where we pulled her from the team, she didn't like the soccer much anyways.

Toronto and Montreal have the Blue Jays and Expos respectively.

Yep....
Also, the stereotypical Soccer Mom tends to be Christian, White, Middle-Upper Class, Suburban.
There is actually a political organization that is basicly Soccer Moms (I can't remember their real name, probably something like Concerned, Aware, Parents or something...) that push for certain laws and try to sway Congress a la NRA...
This is a good example of Soccer Momism.
And if you recall that "How to tell if your son is a computer hacker" article, that is a good example...
Their intentions are noble, I suppose, even if they are extreme and misguided in most cases

Hehe, that's a bit biased. There are all kinds of organizations that try to sway congress on all sides of the political fence, and they all do it the same way, with money.
The largest lobby is actually the National Bar Association, a very liberal lobby made up of (as if you couldn't guess) lawyers. I believe the second largest is the National Medical Association, made up of doctors. People with money get what they want, what wonderful examples of democracy.
The NRA is made up of people like you and me who believe in the second ammendment. Heaven forbid normal people should have a strong say in the politics of their goverment.
That's one thing I really miss about New Hampshire. Most of the local and state politicians weren't lawyers, they were just normal folks, elected to represent their constituents.
quote:
Kanid had this to say about Punky Brewster:
(Look at Kanid's post, )
I never said it was a bad thing for those organizations only (I dislike the concept of anyone being able to influence Congress by money, but it happens, and I can't change it, ).
And I don't have a problem with the NRA as a whole, I have a problem with certain people who just happen to be members of the NRA (such as people opposed to a Ban against guns advertised as "Able to Pass through Metal Detectors!" or ones that "don't leave a fingerprint, ever!" The only reason you'd really have for either of those is if you believed your gun would be used to commit a crime...
[Edit]: I would like to mention also that I wasn't trying to single out the NRA (I just think that more people are familiar with the NRA than the NBA (not to mention, I can say NRA without anyone confusing it for a Basketball organization, ) [ 12-14-2001: Message edited by: Lashanna ]
As for fingerprints? Eh. Ballistics tests are much more damning in court.
I dislike when people fight for things like "cop-killer" bullets and stuff like that too. It isn't necessary for hunting or self defense.

What? Do people think cops are Super Humans bent on taking over the world and that only a "Silver Bullet" can kill them? This shit really pisses me off and the people that look for that shit, I'd prefer to put a bullet in their head and see how they feel about it. They may say "I did nothing wrong!"... Well buck-o, I'd beg to differ, the purchase of "cop killer" bullets to me is already attempted homicide and you should be locked away for it.
Hell... Cops cant even do their job anymore. Crime is going back UP and Tickets issued are going DOWN. You want to know why? This Racial Profiling Bull Shit.... Because of that, officers cant pull someone over without the risk of getting in some SERIOUS trouble. This is also an affect of having Bitch Ass FemiNazi Soccer Moms running around. People think cops are out to get them... MOST ARENT!
You may run into things like that to very old, small towns... but in big cities, they cant afford to do something like that. These Racial Profiling laws are SO BAD that some Police Departments are going into a "No Contact" phase, were they only go if called and there is ZERO proactive policing. Meaning you dont have cops watching over your neighborhoods at night, noone busting down the drunk drivers.. no NOTHING unless someone calls the police department.
Oh yea... I hope yall like your taxes going up, because with these new laws, the government is getting ALOT less money and they are going to have to compensate for that somehow.
Pesco FUMES!
I tried to type most of that, but I just fell over while laughing at the "cop-killer" line.
Given advances in composite fiber technology it's just a matter of time before someone turns out a totally non-metalic gun. That'll make working the security checkpoint at the airport more interesting.
And as much as I like guns and believe in the Second Amendment, nobody needs teflon coated 'cop-killer' bullets. Sorry. Most crooks don't bother with body armor (those mutts in L.A. who robbed banks and shot it out with the cops with automatic weapons being the obvious exception), so you don't need them to defend your home.

THEN OBEY THE GOD DAMN LAWS!

Teflon coated so they penetrate body armor.

Pesco had this to say about Tron:
I agree wholeheartedly. And with Atlanta's issues, the Police encourage White officers to work with white victims or suspects, black with black, Hispanic with Hispanic, Asian with Asian, etc. in attempt to reduce accusations of racism.
Yes, the Civil War and the "Old South" are all long gone, but a large number of white supremacists still live here (I'm surprised, you'd think if they hated minorities that much, they'd move to somewhere like Wisconsin or something, instead of living in a city where the majority of the population is black, and a large percentage of the population is Hispanic). And similarly, there are a large number of black people who hate white people (because all white people are White Supremacists).
So the police have to step VERY carefully around here, and it's become dangerous to be a Police Officer (not just physicly, but there's also a high risk of getting sued. :rolleyes
Also, am I correct in assuming "cop-killer" bullets are like high velocity or something, or body armor piercing or whatever...? (I don't know guns that well...) [ 12-14-2001: Message edited by: Lashanna ]
[Edit]: Nevermind, you all answered my question while I typed this up, heh. Also if this all comes out as incomprehensible, Sorry, I get that way sometimes... I try to write out my thoughts, and *I* know what I'm saying, but I somehow skip the important things that let other people know what I'm saying,
Standard HV Ammo is just that. High Velocity rounds. Pretty much guarnteed to screw up most guns over time. There are of course guns made for this kind of ammo...
I'm still waiting for some kind of liquid core rounds. Imagine the splatter factor associated with a .44 or .45 caliber round that has a core of Mercury instead of being solid or hollow-point... "Muhahahahaha"...

Actually according to Reader's Digest, the largest (in numbers) and most powerful (in influence) lobby on Capitol Hill is the AARP, and they're only set to get stronger as the boomers reach that golden age.

As I recall, the early versions of the Glock Model 19 contained very little metal. So little that it made detection by standard metal detectors problematic. A compromise was reached were the production models increased the metal content above a certain critical threshold to make detection easier.Given advances in composite fiber technology it's just a matter of time before someone turns out a totally non-metalic gun. This post is just WRONG WRONG WRONG. And full of misinformation.
Glocks do not now nore have they ever had small amounts of Metal in them. The slide has more metal that many other guns do completely.
Teflon coating a bullet has ZERO effect on it's ability to penetrate body armor. Teflon coating does only one thing. It reduces friction slightly resulting in better acuracy and slightly higher muzzel velocity. (only a couple hundred FPS).
To penetrate body armor you need a POINTED projectile moving at about 1800+ FPS. Most rifle rounds will do this.
Pistol rounds however are blunt, flat, or rounded nosed and with a few exceptions max out at around 1200-1400FPS.
It doesn't matter what you coat them with. They will not penetrate even level 1 or 2 body armor. Much less the level 3 that police wear now.
It is in fact the Soccer moms we are talking about here that spread the misinformation you have quoted above..
My apologioes if any of this post can off Harsh. It is a bitter subject for me when even other gun owners buy into the lies that are put forward but the lBradey Campain (formerly Handgun control Inc> ) and the likes of the Million Mom march (which was actually less than 150,000 and is now bankrupt after a lot of internal problems.)
That is all.
