Ok! As official WoW fan-girl, I made this thread, post and discuss things about WoW, and the GREAT game that it will be, right here!
Wait til we have more details about it than the color of dark elf underwear.
Being a diehard WoW fan at this point makes about as much rational sense as being a Dawn fan. [ 10-12-2001: Message edited by: Drysart ]

WoW Look at their track record for making good games I predict WoW to rule.

They would have to tweak them a bit, but they can include classes from D1 along with the ones from D2. That would give you a good range to choose from.
Magician
Warrior
Rogue
Monk
Paladin
Necromancer
Sorceress
Amazon (male=Ranger)
Barbarian
Druid
Assassan

Look at their track record for being totally inept at running secure, reliable online services *coughBATTLE.NETcough*.

Can you tell me what is so wrong with battle.net? Aside from the occasional downtime it isnt that bad.
Aside from the fact that Diablo 1 had no data integrity at all.
Aside from the fact that Diablo 2 has almost no data integrity at all.
Aside from the fact that for a long time, the downtime was hardly "occasional".
Aside from the fact that they had a bug wherein you could log into other people's accounts with the wrong password just by trying a few times.
All games have starting up net trouble. Its a requirement almost or do you not recall when everquest launched and EVERY OTHER MMORPG also had lag and such.
If the game is released in 2-3 years as some have predicted I think it is safe to say that blizzard will get it right. Third times the charm.

They worked on Diablo 2 for how many years? It's their flagship product and they STILL managed to screw up the most basic security feature a service can have, and it's still so easily hacked that you have to watch who you play with and on what servers? (and btw, UO/EQ/AC hacking is, for the most part, child's play compared to what Diablo hackers can accomplish)
Diablo in 1997 was much, much, much, MUCH, MUCH worse off than UO was in 1997 -- plus, they pretty much gave up trying to fix it.
Battle.net's experienced more average downtime over it's life as a whole than any other online game except UO (which goes down nightly for backups).
All their other online foulups combined, you're looking at a company that can produce great games, but seriously drops the ball when it comes to infrastructure. Stop being apologetic for their failings and you'll see that too.
WoW, I can't believe there's already fanboys!

Just keep in mind: it's easy to make a game sound like it's the best thing since sliced bread when it's still two years away from release (or more, when has Blizzard ever released on time?) and the design documents aren't even written yet.Being a diehard WoW fan at this point makes about as much rational sense as being a Dawn fan.
You give Blizzard to much credit Drysart. WoW wont be out till 2008-2012. My group of friends has a pool. I voted 2008.
Blizzard never gets anything out on time.
And when they do, WoW will be on battle.net servers probably so that means on day one, massive crash.
I've loved every blizzard product I've ever bought. I will buy this, but there are some truths you have to accept.
1. It wont be on time.
2. They have never managed online things well AT ALL. NEVER NEVER NEVER.
3. Blizzard could sell 1 million copies of an empty box.

Yeah, which is another point in their favour. They saw that the game wasn't going to be as good as they wanted it to be, so they scrapped it. They didn't just push it out the door and hope to make a little money off of it.
Mostly because Warcraft 3 also looks like it possesses all the roxxor.
Well, that and the fact I can be the undead! Undead, WOoo!

this is turning into a Blizzard bashing thread WEE! I know wow will be good, they havent let me down before, yes it might take a while, and etc etc. Blizz has always been about Hype thats ANOTHER truth

People used to say that about Westwood before TS .

that was the straw that broke the camels back though hehe
though Red alert 2 does own hehe
People whine when a company releases a game quickly to appease the impatient and are promptly bashed for a game with bad bugs and other unfinished things
Damned if they do, damned if they don't
My god, I felt cheated out of 45 min of my life downloading the demo to that game
*shudder*
Give these people a little credit, they're professionals here. And even though their track record states otherwise, I beleive in my heart WoW will be released on time. I have to reasons for this:
1) Blizz North, when done with War3, will move onto WoW, helping Blizz Cali. Blizz Cali works on Graphics and such, Blizz North works on the gameplay and major programming.
2) With SoL, Shadowbane, DAoC and other MMORPGS, WoW wants to bite into the market while it's still fresh.
Hype can make anything look good - the person hyping the product only needs a touch of skill. I agree with Drys, you can't really judge anything right now, and again, every MMORPG I played and quit looked good when it was hyped. So... There is no way I am getting WoW.
"Don't want to sound like a fanboy, but I am with you. I'll buy it for sure, it's just a matter of for how long I will be playing it..."
