The original was set up by Kennatsu, on the the crappy IRC network IRC network. irc.blahblahblah.net, channel is 'Evercrest' key is 'Fluffy'.

This channel was the first home to EC chat, and as such, many old-sk00l posters won't leave, seeing as how many have friends on it. Plus, since the crappy IRC network has multiple servers, this can improve connections for some, ALLOW connections from some (Kloie simply cannot connect to the other IRC network), but also means that netsplits can and do happen.

The other IRC network is Drysart's own irc.evercrest.com. This has replaced the the crappy IRC network room in being the 'official' chat room for EC. This room is moderated more like the boards (IE : Drys is the god, you anger him, you are out). It tends to hold most of the newer posters, mainly because the old IRC room isn't linked from the boards. It does come with its own problems, of course. Since it is the only server on the network, it cannot have a netsplit, however if something happens to that one server, then the EverCrest IRC network is down, period. Additionally, since there's only the one server, connections to it can be less reliable than a network that has multiple servers in multiple locations (Closer locations tend to be better connections).

All in all, I think it's honestly a matter of preference. Some people stay on both servers because each one has friends. Myself, I do not like the new EverCrest IRC network mainly because it hasn't got the feel of the older room, and 90% of my friends stay on the the crappy IRC network room.

Does it cause you pain to hear the name, like in Princess Bride? Does Peachis chase you around the house saying the name of the other networkwhen you get in trouble with her?

Automatic edit. I got sick of people posting complaints about that room (both the moderation of it, and the netsplits, etc.), so I made it so you can't plug it here at all anymore.

WRONG. The original room was at a server called "Ihatelinux.com". However, due to problems that room was taken offline. I set up the "other" channel as the backup before it went down. I guess that because of a lot of things that were happening, it took a while for Drysart to put up the current official channel, IRC.EVERCREST.COM
