*ahem* I must speak up about this now.. Toriyama is the worst hack anime artist I have ever seen/heard of. He has one character set and draws nothing else. Look at Chrono's clothes, look at Tapion form movie thirteen. Same clothes. He is probably the most admired cartoonist among teenage boys in america and yet he is probably the worst anime/manga artist I have seen.
*gets off his soapbox*
Chrono trigger was good.. the concept artist was not. And Deli was using that as an attention getter if ya didn't notice..

Well, the characters for CT were good, it doesn't matter if he's used them in various forms for other things, they worked well in CT.
Did Toriyama do the characters for BoF3 as well? Just wondering, because when the main character becomes the KaiserDragon (his most powerful form), he looks just the same as allways, but with blond hair....

The blonde hair standing on end is a common thing in anime.. Toriyama didn't do BoF.. I'm EXTREMELY sure of that.. (look at the ears)
Yes.. the CT characters were good.. but that's not due to Toriyama.
Toriyama also does Dragon Quest.. which he actually appears to have a LITTLE originality in.. *you can still see similarities.. major similarities in some cases.. like umm.. hair... check out DQ5's characters.. anyone look familiar with just different clothes? Yeah.. thought so..*
So.. Toriyama's not great.. he's had a hand in great projects.. but his art, IMO is waaay too over hyped..

Blonde Hair, Blue eyes.
I wonder where they got that?
/me pictures the makers of DBZ 'hailing' Hitler
/shudders
I think the eyes going blue is just to match the "bleached out" look of the blond hair.
From the Inferno MTG card

I coul understand if Toriyama had MADE Chrono Trigger the clothes would look similar to DBZ cuz they'd both be his creations and he may like to build off previous characters.. but.. it's not.. it's Square's masterpiece.. Toriyama's just a concept artist.

Tenchi Universe I think if they were in that swimsuit competition.
But Tenchi is lightyears beyond DBZ... It's a lot smooth, not as grainy. They wear different clothes a lot, and their mouths move more...

The TV show is still infinitely better Sailor Moon, DBZ, Pokemon, or the run of the mill stuff...
For one thing, Tenchi's also targetted for a higher age group...
DBZ is the kind of anime that gets a lot of viewers simply because it IS Anime... It has a very poor plot. Actually, calling it a plot is an insult to plots. It's almost always the exact same routine. That flaws it as a show... The entire fight scenes are mostly blurs, or motions on loop (Punch, Kick, Jab, Same Punch Same Kick, Same Jab, Same Punch Again, Same Kick again, Same Jab Again, etc.)
The clothing doesn't really change much, the hair gets abit redundant... (Only place in Tenchi this really occurs is between Washu and Ryoko, but Washu made Ryoko, sorta, so it's to be expected that Ryoko is in her creator's image).
The art in general is really grainy...
Art in Tenchi is a lot smoother, lot more background effects. The motions are a lot more complete, etc. etc. etc... Do you really want me to continue...?
I'm just saying, Tenchi's animation (in movie AND in the shows) is better than DBZ's...

It's like the writers for DBZ are trying to add suspense... But they way overdo it... Most shows are content with a comercial break, or at the most, a two parter...
but having like 4 episodes of powering up and stuff, and 2 episodes of actual fighting is just to much...
As one of my friends put it, "DBZ? Isn't that that show with all the grunting guys who scream and fly and stuff?" That basicly breaks it down (if you insert poor humor and fireballs also, that is)
