Clerics are amazing

I made a few and tried explaining to people that they'd be making much more progress if they just grouped with me and let me heal/buff and shinkick but I don't think they believed me

Warrior/Cleric setups are unstoppable (until cleric is OOM) if the warrior can hold out for 10 seconds without dying. If they ever put in Trak and the BP drops they are completely unstoppable as long as the tank can stand for 30 seconds.

Warrior/Shaman combos tend to be a bit more efficient between the DoTs and buffs from the Shaman.

Had a friend that thought the same thing, then found himself in a spot in Karnor's Castle where the target he was fighting was capable of casting CH and was getting additional CH support through a wall. He'd bleed it OOM, beat it almost to death and then the CH from another target would prop it up.

Kinda pissed him off. But yes.. Monk/Shaman is brutal.

I remember when groups I'd been with before would re-group with me instantly, taking me over the most experienced tanks. Because most warriors didn't know what the fuck they were doing.

Then there was the time I had that argument with another Shadow Knight about disease cloud, a spell we got at low level. He thought it was useless and I just couldn't beat it into his head that it's one of the best tank taunts in the game. You could use it up to like level 40 and out taunt every warrior in the game with it. So very broken.

Good times. Good times.

I miss SWG some times. I miss Avatar Metropolis and decorating houses - my houses had very impressive "offices", considering my character was a Master Rifleman/ Master Medic then Master Rifleman/MBH.

I also miss EQ 1 sometimes... I miss my Holy Steed's sheer zone-crossing power and the ability to aggro-lock mobs in groups simply by using a level 9 stun spell.

It worked so well - there was more than one time in PoDisease grouping where the rest of the group was gabbing away while I tanked the mobs with them only having to cast a heal on me ever so often.

Unfortunately, there have been server mergers for both games and it has been a few years, so it's highly unlikely any of my characters are still there, and I'm not spending money to find out.

meh, use the alt models. Aion was very pretty, and very boring, WoW is to easy and ugly anymore. not into sci-fi or space MMO's. Guild Wars, again, pretty, but boring. Lineage 2, to much ganking, but very pretty. so, for MMO's we play EQ2. i'm gonna guess it's not for you. that's cool.

I don't get how in one breath you can say WoW is too easy and then in the next EQ2 isn't.

They're both fucking easy. EQ2 just has more grind for fucking AAs and a shittier tradeskill system.

Actually, I'm pretty sure you can level faster in EQ2 if that matters in the difficulty rating any.

quote:

Take World of Warcraft, and then multiply the amount of damage abilities that you have by 3, and then give them all a cooldown of 6 to 15 seconds, and a cast time of .5 seconds that prevents you from auto attacking if all you do is spam abilities over and over (which is very possible). Or, at least that's a melee class in EQ2.

to me, from my own personal playing experiences, WoW is easier.

and, i like the tradeskill system better.

Should be in by end of the year.. they're getting the code done, and testing it almost daily. And seein as this is a bunch of folks spare timing it, it's pretty impressive. SOE apparently is not very generous with the shit what makes the server side run. So they have to reverse engy and find clues hidden in OLD files from pre-cu installs of the game that are somehow still intact.

And yes, Mort was more than anal about that.. that shit was Colonic.. But the city DID have streets. I miss my yacht..

No, but we do bounce everywhere. Isn't your froglok necro pet the dead thing?

I do love our Hydromotion racial ability, though. We get innate water breathing, but that's the one that lets us sink to the bottom of water. Very helpful as a ranger to be able to run along the bottom as opposed to trying to swim around to fight things in the water.

I still can't figure out the freemium packages for the EQ2 extended services..the gold level is 14.99 and your still limited on races, but the reg EQ2 subscription plan is the same price, no limitations.

and the totally free service, well you get what you pay for, but it does make for a nice demo. though kinda feel sorry for the newer players. I liked the little village starting area setups that was in the game.

Haven't had those in ages, but actually the new newbie areas are pretty nice. They adopted the "hub" type of questing setup that WoW has, so you have a real quest progression.

And I could see the draw of the freemium service if you wanted to just try things out (they got rid of the 14 day trial) but not if you wanted to play and really experience things. They're limited in race, class, broker transactions, amount of gold, bank slots and a lot of other things unless they go to one of the paying subscriptions. And even then they can't get what they would get for a normal full subscription on the Live servers.

I guess it's been pretty popular so far, though. And there is the draw of the types of things they can buy off the Marketplace, that aren't available on the Live servers. So maybe that's a plus for some folks.

yeah, it's dead. suppose that would account for the squishy noises. the flips when he's fighting amuse me as well.

and the free EQ, yeah, 14.99 gets you limited races, may as well just do the regular sub and use the free month as a trail with no race limitations.
