Really?

Huh... that might explain why I have such a low opinion of Tekken. The last one I played was 4, and it did indeed suck ass...

Yeah, from what I've heard, it's the consensus that 4 was really bad compared to Tag Tournament and then 5/DR are just ace. 5 feels a lot more like 3 than 4 did. 4 just changed a lot of shit they shouldn't have.

Yes, Dead or Alive 2 ultimate really was the best version.

DoA4 is hella fun to play amongst casual players. As soon as you head online though, or play against people who manage to counter your every single move, it gets just irritating. I sure as hell am not going to spend hours upon hours perfecting my counters and learning all the characters' animations when I could very well spend that time on other stuff.

There are fighting games that aren't like this?

Some are easier to pick up and learn by intuition rather than by rote.

I liked guilty gear because all the counters were either unreliable but useful, or reliable but not very useful.

Til you got to I-NO anyway, but that's like a trial by fire thing.

The worst part about Dead or Alive is that it's rock paper scissors, while the best part is that it's the fastest rock paper scissors ever.

The best part about DoA2 is that countering has a reasonable enough window for casual players to do it pretty well.

The worst part about DoA4 is that it doesn't.
