And that I upped all of my talents with the trainer.

I watched a friend playing WoW on his computer. It seemed incredibly easy with absolutely no risk whatsoever.

As of about 2.2, they started putting in a LOT of stuff to be more "newbie" friendly. Things like tracking for all characters that allows you to locate reagent/repair/whatever vendors, class trainers, etc. Gigantic fucking yellow "!" and "?" on your minimap and cursor, whatever ground quest objective you have to find now sparkles, etc.
Honestly, I don't remember who said it, but 1-60 is character creation and mechanic learning. 61-70 is character training. There is some strategery used in raiding, but it's more liken to "Hit this button in this order for twelve minutes" for DPS classes, "Hit this healy button over and over" for healers and "Spam the same three buttons" for tanks. Perhaps I oversimplify, but there you have it.
Edit: I also may be a tad jaded. I hear there are some interesting fights in Hyjal and Zul'Aman. Though it's still a wad of bullshit you have to wade through to get there first. (Moreso Hyjal, less-so ZA.) Delphi Aegis fucked around with this message on 01-17-2008 at 09:34 PM.

You can get into trouble solo as some classes if you get multiple mobs, or tackle elite mobs, and in dungeons you can get in trouble of you don't bring a balanced enough group or someone screws up/does something very stupid.
Essentially, if you don't make any mistakes and don't do anything stupid, you should be able to get to the level cap without any problem or very many deaths (especially now that they've reduced the exp needed to get to 60).
From my understanding with raids, it's more about getting everyone to know exactly where they need to be during pulls and being able to move quickly into position when needed.
I wish it was like some other games where the aggressive come up on the mini map as red dots.. But that would make it too easy, I guess. I just hate dying. It's starting to really piss me off. lol

I don't know. I'm finding it pretty easy, in the quests and what not, but hard when it comes to aggressives. I'll attack one, then another comes out of no where and I die. Sounds like murlocs. You'll learn to hate murlocs if you haven't already.

Mind you, WoW will seem extremely easy if you're coming from EQ, a game which actively punished players at every turn.
True enough. No penalty for death? The game actually tells you where your CORPSE is? Hot diggity damn.
Oh, and tradeskills are useful!

True that. Two words from EQ you'll never hear in WoW are "Camp Check".
I can't believe we ever put up with sitting at the same spots killing the same mobs over and over for hours trying to level. Well, yes I can, since there was no option B.

I don't want any risk outside of dungeons/raids. Well, outside of world PvP. That's much more interesting than oh hey look at that sand giant that's going to stomp me because I'm level 14 and he's 35

fuck you, sons of arugal and Fel Reavers.
It follows the mantra of all the blizz games. Easy to learn, more difficult than you would think to master. Arena combat is another prime example.
Anyone who's not braindead (read: 5-10% of the WoW playerbase) will find this game a cakewalk with the only risks coming from cutting corners, attempting to be more efficient. I know that makes up 90% of my PvE deaths.
Not that it's necessarily a bad thing for the game to be so casual friendly. But that's the future of successful mmorpgs regardless. Blackened fucked around with this message on 01-18-2008 at 11:18 AM.
Arenas are a completely different level of skill than anything else in any MMO I've ever played begins to approach.
Anyone who thinks WoW takes no skill needs to play 5v5 in the 2400s and they'll change their tune real quick.

Pretty much. I only die when I try to do stupid shit with Fal, like kill Elite (5) mobs. I've done quite a few Elite (3)s with ease. Or when I try to kill more mobs than I can fear off at once.
You pretty much have to be stupid to die if you aren't taking huge risks.

My favorite game to play as a Prot Paladin is "Can I kill all 30 of the mobs for this quest in one continuous AE pull?"
The answer is often no, but frequently ends up around 15 at a time. Greenlit fucked around with this message on 01-19-2008 at 11:58 AM.

Of course, "huge risks" varies a lot from one class to another.

I later got it from a guildie, for the low low price of one favor, though by that time it had totally lost it's usefulness for anything other than level 19 PvP twinks. :/
I had +4 to all stats to chest drop in Zul'Aman as well.. When three years ago it dropped on Kazzak and some FUCKING RETARD PRIEST "won" it, even though he didn't have 300 enchanting.
*sigh*
Also, I saw someone named Vorago on my server. Lawl.
i like this UI, except this one thing.
the huge freaking target box blocking everything and giving me tons of info.
also you can set where the tooltip goes
all is well in the land of cowtip now.
