But seriously, the phalanx was my favorite part, because I'm a total history nerd.
Spartans, PUSH
That movie was satisfying, like a gigantic burger when you're really hungry.

I was kind of bugged that they kept saying how important fighting in phalanx was, then 5 seconds later they'd be spread out over a few hundred feet on their own leeping through the air.
The Phalanx is for fighting an army. When you saw them spread out it was just to finish off the stragglers of a wave.
It seems like one of the rare cases where it actually is a movie that's not for critics at all.
I wasn't too busy going to notice the flying body parts and such. Mr. Gainsborough fucked around with this message on 03-14-2007 at 12:37 AM.

Did you not notice that even when they weren't in locked phalanx, they tended to fight in teams? One guy parrying a blow for the other guy while he hacks some dude to pieces? One guy setting up another guy to strike a vicious blow, etc. I mean...I thought that was one of the REALLY well-choreographed elements of things.

I think they just did this because it was cool. Could be wrong though, as it proved to be quite effective.
Not all reviewers didn't like it.
