Optometry, chiropractic (and most physical therapy), prescriptions of almost any kind are no longer(or never were) fully-covered. Mental health care is not covered.
Hospital visits (ER, planned surgery, etc.) are covered, as are GPs.

Gram tossed the paper with the ad that I saw, but the Luna Eye Center are the ones running radio and newspaper ads for $400/eye.If you google up other places, like the LASIK vision institute, the prices are similar.
Boy, that's awesome. I just checked the prices for a LASIK treatment here and it would cost me about 3,500.00 Euros*!
It's probably cheaper for me to fly to The States, get the treatment and have a week vacation, than going to my local institute. Wow.

Edit: *That's about $4,600.00

Just be sure to do some research on the equipment the different clinics are using. My roomate has been looking into getting some corrective surgery and he mentioned that the cheaper places are usually running a generation or two behind the more expensive ones.
The other reason clinics run insanely low prices is because they just got new equipment and/or are learning a new procedure and want to gain experience quickly. They lower prices, essentially, because they need people to practice on.

They have a "bladeless" lasik now such that they don't have to peel back the protective coating on your eye. I haven't done a whole lot of research on it though. I just know it's called Intra lasik.
No, they still cut you open and peel back a flap of your cornea... they just do it with a laser instead of a microkeratome. I had this procedure done in August of 2006.
I'm a big pussy about my eyes like some of the other people in this thread... I could never stomach contacts for very long for that reason. I didn't have any problem with the LASIK procedure, though. It took about 15 minutes, and they do give you a sedative before you go in (though it didn't do much of anything to me). My recovery time was about 2 days.
EDIT: My price came to just shy of $4000. Arttemis fucked around with this message on 03-08-2007 at 10:26 AM.
