If any one group is an aristocratic elite, it's the poor, elderly, and ethnic minorities.

But the poor, elderly, and ethnic minorities don't rule. Perhaps I spoke poorly when I chose the word "aristocratic." Has, then, populism fallen by the wayside and does an elite group of any fashion rule?

Aristocracy is not determined by money - hence the bourgeois - aristocracy is determined by immutable power over your fellow man. What is political correctness but control over the thoughts we express? What is hate crime legislation but judicial bias? What is affirmative action but federally enforced racial bias? What is The Great Society but immutable, federally backed robbery on behalf of a given group?

Don't the two go hand in hand, or, at least, one lubricates the other? This would, at minimum, disqualify the poor, and probably the middle class.

What are this questions but strawmen? You're still free to be a racist cunt. In fact, talk show hosts make great money being racist cunts. But anyway, my original question was about populism, and this idea of massive fluid social mobility. Does such even exist? It seems, more and more, that the wealthy elite almost exclusively run the country, but maybe that's the way it's always been, and populism is just a tool.

Yeah, and the french revolution was an "overreaction" too.

Historically, when liberty is openly threatened, there is no such thing as an "overreaction"

quote:

They sure do. Look at the government, the only source of immutable power in this country. Follow the trail of money flowing through the government. Where is it coming from, and where is it going? It's coming from those who produce and going to the aristocracy with the threat of violence safeguarding it's passage.

We live under the fist of an aristocracy of tin-pot local political figures and their pork projects, parasitic subsidized corporate entities, special interest voting blocks, and people who believe they are entitled to all the benefits of society simply by virtue of their existance.

Oh, sure, it's only a few trillion right now and the producers of the wealth that benefits us all are still able to produce, but how long is it going to stay that way?

quote:
What are this questions but strawmen? You're still free to be a racist cunt. In fact, talk show hosts make great money being racist cunts.

Free in what way? Is Michael Richards free to be a racist cunt? It certainly doesn't seem that way. But is 50 cent free to be a racist cunt?

quote:

As long as wealth is distributed by merit and not by force, the talented, productive, intelligent, or hard working who bring the most benefit to society will see the most benefits from society while the dysfunctional see the least.

Apart from the exception noted above, populism not only exists, it exists in the most moral and just form possible.

For now, at least.

I love those things, mang. It shows you just how fast a game can be beat and gives you the tricks you need to get it done better. Like Castlevania 1, for instance. I didn't know you could chain stun all the bosses with holy water until I saw the speed run. I still can't beat the goddamn game but it helps a lot.

I dunno about websites to look at, really. I browse play-asia.com sometimes for cool shit on the discount rack. Serebii.net for my pokemon needs. Whenever I'm bored, I try to get off the internet and go play a game or something. That or browse /b/.
