Go big, serve your market diligently, bring joy to as many as you can, and maybe if you're lucky, some day you'll be successful enough for people to resent your existence, shop at a mom 'n pop store instead, and vote for legislation that would destroy you.

lol, hilarious. Question though, RK mentiond a user a while ago who really stirred up bad mojo in the boards. Would be kind enough to please fill me in on the tragic, nightmarish history of Somthor?

he still posts here.

He's just a generally well-meaning guy who says very dumb things sometimes.

At least, that's my opinion.

It's a running gag (and a damn annoying one )that some people insist that I am Somthor, never mind I normally state things as a complete thought, spell correctly and use proper punctuation and grammar, something he apparently never did. Hopefully I don't piss as many people off as he managed. If you want to know more about Somthor just do a search on his name here it should tell you a lot about him, frankly I understand there were worse people here than him he just seems to be the one they remember the most.

I am myself, and I'd like to think I'm well liked or at least well tolerated here, heck BS even said he'd buy me a beer

Hey new person.

I used to dunk newbies in acid when everyone here roleplayed. No one does anymore. We're SA-Lite now, more or less. Not that this is a bad thing mind you.

Now all I do is take my superiority complex out for walkies every so often and comment on video games.

What's wrong with Socialism?

Come live in France, and you'll learn what's wrong with socialism.

For starters, the unions rule everything. There's even a union for university students who were able to close the universities for two months last spring to protest having to actually work to find a job (simplistically speaking).

French people pay nearly half of their income to taxes to support early retirement at age 55 and to have free or low cost healthcare, yet that isn't working so well beneath the surface. Healthcare costs are rising, unemployment though down to 8% or 9% is still above the US's 4-5%, and it reaches 25% in the 18-25 year old age group.

Also, companies can't just stop doing business and fire everyone if they are not making money. If they try, they have to pay for their employees' unemployment benefits + job retraining and other benefits.

Most small business are family owned and operated to get around having employees work only a 35 hour work week leading to a lower quality of service.

Et quelle horreur! People in the movie making business who work a set number of hours in a month are guaranteed to make close to the same amount of money when they are not working and are in between jobs. So they actually get paid to sit on their butts (or nightclubbing or sit on the beach) in between jobs.

But this isn't a politics thread

That's probably true for most types of government.

Also, don't mistake socialism for communism.

I think capitalism relies on the theory that people are fallible in that they are driven by greed, thus the economy will be made successful based on its participants desire to succeed on it.

First, I still roleplay at least.

...every Saturday night my DnD group comes over for a rousing game of roleplay. Since I started DMing that is.

And secondly... what's a walkie(walky)?

"Age by age have men stood up and said to the world, 'From what has come before me, I was forged, but I am new and greater than my forebears.' And so each man walks the world in ruin, abandoned and untried. Less than the whole of his being"

Last time I saw anyone roleplay here was years ago. Stop kidding yourself. No one does it religiously anymore and those that rarely do cause the rest of us to roll eyes and shake our heads in pity.

Unless you're actually a guy in RL who roleplays a girl working in the air force.

You can't believe in one without believing in the other. Socialism is, by it's definition, a phase of transition to communism.

I really wish I didn't have to repeat myself so often.
