But they also didn't have the benefits I have. They didn't learn the same things in school. When my parents went to high school, in a general issue public school, they weren't taking Trigonometry and Calculus like I was. They were doing general math, *maybe* some algebra in their senior years. I was being introduced to algebra in a basic public urban middle school in 6th grade. That's not even a better-funded township school like my high school, but the lowest of the low, Indianapolis Public Schools.
I also have to agree that teachers just give too much homework. I had no problems with my homework. There was a lot of it, and I did it. I didn't feel I had learned anything extra from it, though. It was just doing busywork for me. My honors courses were the only place I felt that I was actually learning something from the work they gave me. Outside of that, especially being in IPS schools during my middle school years, I didn't feel homework had much of a point.
