and this is the full journal!

day 1: found this really cool maze, wandered in. stumbled upon some odd shrine to flightless birds. felt safe, so slept there. (shrine of penguins)

day 2: stumbled across a body, being greedy and a tad morbid, i picked through the remains and got a blue vial of some liquid.. wonder what it does. (bajah repellant)

day 3: woo! riches untold, pretty cool. tired to fill pockets with gold, only managed 60. note to self.. get bigger pockets. wait. what is that... oh go...
(center of maze! yay?)

day 4: im dead.. i know it. im dead. (curse Addy)

day 5: sad realization ghosts cant carry gold, must work on haunting skills.

day 6: what.. i can breathe again! im not dead! wait.. where is my gold? gah!
ow! stupid needles.. sheesh, at least dead i felt no pain. spend rest of day picking needles out of flesh and wandering along. (-3 hp's to needles)

day 7: upon successfully removing the needles, i see that i am in some mundane hallway.. well.. at least no traps! (-1 to next roll)

day 8: water.. i hear water, why that would be grand, this way? no wait, that way. yes! a spring, ill fill up here and rest a bit. i do feel much better.
(+5 HPs)

day 9: i find myself alive, but painfully broke, shall we see what the day brings dear journal? yes lets. oh.. another shrine, why are there so many odd shrines to um.. things? people? animals? well.. it seems lucky.. but really.. is it lucky to be enshrined in a maze? ill ponder that another day.
(shrine of Parcelan +1 to next roll)

day 10: i hear hooves? is that hooves? there are horses in the maze? how odd.. but then.. suppose nothing about the past little while has been to normal. oh goodie, more dead bodies, go go morbid streak.. ill just.. yeah, dig through ..ohh, swords. ill take those, they dont need them any longer so, its not stealing, and who knows! maybe they'll be shrined soon! the great two, okay not so great they died, the brave? yes brave two who entered the maze of shrine with not even a weapon to their name.. well, that would just make them foolish really. oh well.
(+25gold)

woo! i think, yes, i got out, that could be the sun, i think.

Final Standings

I went back over the whole thing with a fine-toothed comb from Day One to Day 10 in order to get the final standings.

I noticed a lot of people screwed up their Delirium on accident, so I took it into account when looking at their rolls, so some people will see different results when looking at their stuff (for example, Katrinity missed a day's roll and didn't take her delirium into account for the missed day and therefore got her +'s and -'s backwards every day afterward and Talonus started out with -'s instead of +'s, so all of his were backwards).

Everything is now corrected and looking nice and anally correct. haha

I'm surprised so many people skipped the final day's roll, though.

Congrats to Densetsu

Adventurers, hail and curse the name Densetsu, victor of the Labyrinth of the Bajataur! Emerging with the most gold, he shall have the honor of not only surviving the Labyrinth, but prevailing as he with the greatest wealth who also has his hide intact!

Now...it's time for a celebration! And I think you know what that means!

I had a lot of fun with this game, really. I didn't expect it to go very far, but it went off without a hitch. I plan on releasing another, larger dungeon in the near future and I hope you'll all be around to have some fun when it comes out.

Also, major kudos to Bajah for acting as impromptu game master, recorder and devourer of the living.

Maybe make higher rolls inherently better than lower rolls to make the + and - modifiers worthwhile. Also remove the rollover so that if you roll a 30 and get +5, it stays at 30.

That would give those with a + to their roll an inherent advantage when it's actually supposed to be a disadvantage.

I think the idea of creating special rooms you can only reach by having a roll modifier is a good idea, because in my opinion the shrine of Ja'Gorgo is fairly useless.

Its pretty much a waste of money and time either way. Sure, you make ten gold if you take from the pile, but your next roll is wasted because you're forced to encounter the Bajataur when it is quite possible that you may have rolled a 30 on that turn. I'd take potential profit of 60 over two turns as opposed to a guaranteed profit of 10.

And paying ten gold for a roll modifier? Waste. But it wouldn't be a waste if there were special places, rooms above 30, only attainable through Ja'Gorgo's blessings.

Mr. Parcelan
posted 08-12-2006 01:44:04 PM
The Shrine of Ja'Gorgo is getting an overhaul, too. He is the God of Weal and Woe, after all.

Hay dudes, sneak peek at the next Labyrinth and the Shrine of Ja'Gorgo!

Ja'Gorgo, one of the oft-overlooked gods, is ever-hungry for gold and tributes. Being the God of Weal and Woe, he is a multifaceted god capable of great blessings and horrible curses. Adventurers can donate gold to achieve their ends in greater increments. Sacrificing 5 gold to Weal will net you a cure and an HP increase, while Woe will poison an enemy of your choice. Sacrificing 10 gold to Weal will net you a Trap Protection buff, while Woe will amplify a trap of your choice. Sacrifing a full 30 (or maybe 40, considering the effects) gold to Weal will net you an auto-resurrection buff, while sacrifing to Woe will cast a Death Sentence on one of your foes (the Death Sentence curse is fairly simple: a character either finds a cure or de-curse in three rounds or is dealt a harsh amount of damage).

Expect buffs to Katrinitu, Goddess of Harborage, the Three Penguins of Safety and beware, the Countess Addythory, in her madness, constructed an entire chapel devoted to Blackenoth. His power shall be great, his hunger shall be greater.

Also included will be Maradongle, the God of Greed! And many more!
