I think what all these so called "Armchair MDs" are trying to say is this: While the chemo may be helping cure his cancer, is it really helping improved his quality of life? Even if the chemo does get rid of the cancer, it sounds like his overall life expectancy has been shortened anyway.

Dude's life expectancy = x
Life expectancy lost due to chemo = y
Life expectancy if dude dies from cancer = 0

x-y > 0

Yay math.

This isn't a matter of quality of life or life expectancy. It's a matter of the patient, in this case his legal guardians, to refuse treatment.

I would think the child would have to agree that he is being abused for it to be considered abuse.

Absolutely not.

Verily, Sakkra doth proclaim:

Life expectancy if dude dies from cancer = 0

x-y > 0

Yay math.

It really depends on how much 'x-y' is. If x-y = 1 or less, would it be worth it?
