I saw the same as Deth, regarding the necklace on the table. After all, Jones fell in love with a woman as rough and mysterious as the sea? Tia fits the bill, there, and seems to have a thing for sailors

As for what I thought of the movie, I think it would have been a lot better without the kraken. To me, that just kind of made the movie a bit less enjoyable. I would have preferred Jones actually using his soldiers and raiding ships and such, like Barbossa's undead did in the first one. Just the whole "Crank this this, slam it down, and immediately have a large tentacle beast destroy a ship for us" wasn't very exciting, to me.

Holy hell, no. The Kraken was key to Davy Jones' aura of malice.

Someone want to explain the dice game to me? I think I got it, but I'm probably just confusing myself, the more I think about it.

Yeah, I'd like that, too. It looks fun.

Buy me a couple drinks and you'll have more testicles on your face than you can handle. Specifically, three.

My opinion on how the dice game goes:

Players make initial wager.

Players roll five six-sided dice and hide under cup.

Players examine their own dice and make predictions on the number of matching dice sides of all dice on the table. (Three twos. Five sixes. Etc.)

They continue betting about the outcome until they reveal their dice for one another or one player calls another a liar, same outcome.

If liar is shown to have been incorrect, he loses and must pay his wager. The closest person to being right would probably be the winner or you play another round until someone is completely right.

The game seems to be a combination of Poker, Blackjack and Bullshit.

It's not an aura of malice, it's an "I WIN" button. Thought you hated those

Meanwhile, his crew hardly does anything but hang out on deck playing dice or work the rigging. The one time they leave the ship to do some sword-fighting and such, it's mostly off-screen.

Eh. I liked the first one better because you got to watch Barbossa's crew, inept they may be, actually out doing stuff like fighting, sneaking onto enemy ships, etc.

With the Kraken it's just "Oh look, tentacles again."

And they get completely whooped by some noblewoman in pants who most likely had never picked up a cutlass beforehand.

The kraken was awesome because it went well with Davy's whole personage of "I am the sea." The kraken wasn't just a bigass octopus, it's more or less an embodiment of the sea, with land being the only way to avoid it.

The crew, while spiffy, were for all intents and purposes normal dudes. Yeah, they were intimidating, but they were still a match for a regular person with a sword.

Yeah I didn't mind the Kraken for that exact reason. It forced Jack to ground.

Yeah but they were normal dudes who've been alive for 90+ years, fighting almost all the time. (a la Aragorn)
