Yes? And?
Note the key word in that sentence. "If". As it stands, who was right and who was wrong?
The last thing I need to do in an arguement is give my opponent more of a reason to rub my face in it. Graciousness in defeat it just as important as victory. Note my response in the first thread I listed.

The if had nothing to do with the right or wrong. It was "if it makes you feel any better." -EDIT: My bad, I didn't see the second if . Regardless, it still shows that you didn't know or seem to care whether or not the gameplay was actually good.
The only thing your response in that thread shows is that you're self-satisfied because the game sucked like you wanted it to, which relates to the backstory thing.
You seriously need to read what you're citing before you cite it. Usually citing something that actually supports your argument is helpful. Taeldian fucked around with this message on 05-09-2006 at 06:17 AM.
Given that I can't find anything to solidly prove my case, I can at least prove that A, he and I were actually in dispute over the game in question and he was NOT a believer that it was going to suck, B that my belief of shitty game was proven (In spite of the fact that yes, I *DID* want Master of Orion 3 to be a good game because... Hello? Sequels?), and C, that I was... shit, I forgot my point C.
I'm tired as all hell, and I need to finish packing for E3, gimme a break. Maradon's position on games is well known, and I'm getting tired of him maradonning up threads.

Unfortunately you're going to miss out on the best titles while the best non-nintendo Wii titles will be multi-platform and you'll wind up getting a PS3 anyway just like everybody who said they'd get a Gamecube and only a Gamecube ended up doing.
I just find this whole comment funny when you use Platform Specific Titles and Multi-Platform titles in the same sentence in this way... When you concider, which consoles platform specific titles dominated the top 10 forever, and both the top 10 Popularity Poles, and Ratings Poles. Hint, it wasn't PS2 or XBox. (With some exceptions) in fact thier most dominating titles were Multi-Platform, which coincidentally, included the Gamecube in most cases.
And if you go with a head to head, Gamecubes versions of Multi-Platform titles were generally concidered better (Again with some exceptions). Whether it be because they came out later with more time for tweaking is irrelevant before you bring that one up.
So... Gamecube had the better platform specific titles, AND it got most of the multi-platform titles... Hmmm...
Also larger library doesn't mean the Good:Crap ratio changes. There is just more, and PS2 had more in the crap area due to an overflooded library. There were some real peaches in there... Even XBox with its smaller library kicked the PS2 all over the place in that ratio department. Also note, PS2's one saving grace was its backwards capatible library, which also helped to baloon the library. Nice, but an exclusion, unless you wanna accept Wii's forthcoming Retroservice. Which honestly kicks PS3's backwards compatibility with PS2/1 all over the place.
So take that as you will. I hate the PS2 controller (why the fuck is the left thumbstick down where you have to fucking pop out the joint to use it?), and I'd rather play a multi platform game on any other system.

You know what's the worst part? The Brits are still not using the Euro.
So, and now I will drop my pants and bend over that PS3 desk.

We should. The sooner that Europe becomes a single political/federal identity the better.
Brits are famous for holding onto old Imperialist ideals though.
FF13 reminded me of FFX-2 and I hated FFX-2.
MGS4 was interesting, but I still want to see some gameplay. Snake goes emo and kills himself?
Everything else just felt like rehashes of current gen titles.

Well when you don't change anything but the graphics capabilities- what did you expect?

I agree.

They didn't just change the graphic capabilities though, the PS3 controller has motion sensing similar to the Wiimote. D: Naj fucked around with this message on 05-09-2006 at 09:09 AM.

And seeing as (evidently) the Wiimote tracks X and Y angles (And perhaps Z to a degree), it's really not that similar at all. In fact, it seems like the fellows in charge of the PS3 controller redesign saw that Nintendo might be onto something.

I tried to get that autograph last year but the line for it was unbelievably long.
Mooj, if you attempt this quest, make sure to get in the line an hour or so before she starts doing autographs.

Eagerly awaiting the Wii announcements
I thought the Xbox and PS2 were pricey when they first came out (what, around 200-300?) and then bought them when they were about 2 years old. At the time, I was just joining the military and I just had the money for the consoles plus a few games. But it was at least affordable. Seems gaming is going the way of the wealthy. I mean, I used to buy a game a month or so, at $30 to $50 a pop, for either the GC, PS2, PC, or Xbox. Even if I had one of the new consoles, I wouldnt have any gams because I refuse to pay more than my gas and electricity bill combined for a game that may or may not have less than 10 hours of gameplay.
Maybe when I'm rich I'll go for a new console, but for now, I'll stick with my PC. At least that is widely upgradable.

Might not want to say that too loudly. Certain older farts might get riled up again.
I'll probably also get a PS3 when the prices come down to something approaching reasonable.
However, I may end up getting an Xbox360 at some point as well.
...and my PC could use an upgrade...
I never owned, nor plan to own, a PS2 or PS3.

I dunno, nothing with the PS3 really made me go "Wow, I want to buy this" but these new things with the Wii are really exciting. I'm sure down the road I'll pick up a PS3, just like the PS2 which I didn't buy till way after launch. Though at this point I'm gonna go out and pre-order myself a Wii ASAP.
See, I'm exactly the opposite way. The controller for the Wii is just about as gimmicky as the touchscreen for the DS as far as I'm concerned. If I buy a next-gen console, it'll be a PS3, simply because it has titles that interest me and the Wii doesn't.

The DS isn't a gimmick anymore however. It is actually building up a pretty damn good game library, over the PSP which should have been a more standard portable system.
As for the PS3... I'll get it if I get the money, simply because there will be games on it that I won't be able to play on other systems, and said games are likely going to be very good ones.

You know, I find myself busting out the SNES and 64 more than anything else. I think I'm turning into an old fart.
You know, it seems to me like Nintendo's systems always have better longevity than their counter parts. Aside from the original NES, at any given time, Nintendo's biggest competitors have always generated more buzz than Nintendo. Someone else always has a more mature game lineup or more capable hardware. And yet, when it's all said and done, the consoles that people always keep around way after they're obselete are Nintendo systems. That says something about the timelessness of their games.
-H
I don't know anyone who looks back and goes, "Man, I loved my N64."
I'd say the Dreamcast and PSX are the consoles with the most longevity.
It's not something people hear about.

For Mario Party, as he'd put it, "If you play any Mario Party games past the first one, you're playing a watered down version of the first game". Or something like that.
