Arathi Basin is fucking sweet.

As my 39 rogue, along with other people in the PA forces, we managed to turn around a game at the last minute.

One minute the score is 1850 (Alliance) to 1930 (Horde) and it gets changed a minute and a half later to a 2000 to 1980 Alliance victory.

I think everyone on our team just about had a heart attack.

Went in and won another one after that.

I really enjoy the ZG boss encounters (didn't get to do the whole zone last night sadly). The loot is very nice for folks who haven't ran MC/just started doing it, and even for casters in BWL gear. I definitely think some of ZG can be considered harder than MC just because the boss fights actually require a bit of... omg... strategy! Broodlord fight is awesome btw ;(

Nice to see something other than the "Rush mob XXX. Kil mob XXX." method. I just wish Hunters would quit insisting to kite every thing around. It doesn't work for Drak, it won't work anywhere.

You were desperate at that point, and you kinda have it backwards.

And the general premise is, the Hunter tags Drak, runs to Rend's room and dies down there while the rest of the raid ganks the guards and wait's for the return of the General. Except that I've never seen it work. Ever. Usually the Hunter gets killed before getting through the Beast's Lair and then everyone is fucked.

How we usually do it is:

Hunter kites Drakk to Beast's room and FDs/Dies.

Rest of the raid ganks one.

Warlocks chain-fear the other one.

Kill Drakk.

Kill other one.

Profit.

It's for people who can't actually kill him I assume. It's not like it's hard to tank him on the opposite side of the room. One priest, one assist healer and Paladins can OT his ass, Warriors it's simple. The rest of the raid ganks the 2 guards (who aren't that bad and really don't need to be 'tanked' if you have good damage) and then you bitchslap Drak to the floor.

Not everyone has done Elemental Tier bosses in EQ. Not everyone has played EQ that plays WoW. I played EQ for 5 years and never got to Elemental planes because I'm lazy and didn't care for raiding (and never got in a guild that raided much).

And I've been in raid groups where shaman kite Drak. Where they were specifically told to kite him because they can revive themselves and run back. All it takes is a bit of luck, and a power word: shield, and hoping to god that the person kiting doesn't get Conflagrated before The Beast's room. It's actually the easiest way to take him down.

The easiest time I have ever done drak was when a warlock fear kited one of his guards. As far as I'm concerned that is one of the better ways to do it. Kiting drak almost garuntees that someone is going to die. Only ice mages can pull it off if they get lucky.

Almost guarantees?

Whoever kites Drak is going to die, period.

And we've done the warlock fear thing, but apparently the spawn can become immune to fear after so many casts, and if you haven't killed one of the spawn before that, your warlocks get wiped, and then your healers get wiped.

Kiting Drak guarantees that only one person will die, as you can put the MT on one of the spawn, the rest of the raid on the other, and then switch off when Drak comes back.

I'm sorry, if you require 'luck' to take a mob down, you don't have the ability to do the job.

Yet we still kill him. The end result is the exact same as a group that puts the MT on Drak, the rest of the raid on an add, and then warlocks/priests on the other add to fear kite it. Only difference is: You're guaranteed one death via kiting Drak.

Now, I'm not saying DotD can't take Drak via the "legit method" (via your terms) because they do the MT on Drak, blah blah blah stuff. But I much prefer the kite method, because if done right, only one person will die, and the other 14 will live, where usually when we keep Drak in the room with his adds and fight that way, we ended up with multiple deaths.

Kiting Drak away is how a 15 man priest group did a full run through UBRS.

Don't think so. Kiting Drak actually has a larger chance of fucking up than keeping him in the room with his adds, however, if your group lacks in needed areas, kiting him CAN make the fight easier.

There's no way to make a 15 man raid out of priests. There aren't that many of them.

And if you have people who know what they're doing and how to handle the classes they're playing you don't need to kite or Fear anything for that fight. The worst that will happen is the MT dies from Conflag and the rest of the raid has minor damage from the AE.

http://thottbot.com/?i=4732 works on Drak's adds. When I go through UBRS on my warrior I use it on one add, tank the other add, and have the second warrior tank drakk. Then after the first add dies, switch to the second. The adds die quick enough that you the timer won't run out on the stun before the first dies. If you don't have one of these helms as a warrior, and are level 60, you need to get one just for the sheer joy of it and it's easy enough to farm for.
