Some players look more graceful than others. Admittedly, though, most fit your description. I probably do.

Yeah I know. Like I said, I don't really care. It's a pretty dumb game really, but oh boy is it fun.

BTW, if they flail around when playing they probably aren't that good. You can look pretty respectable with some effort, at least on most songs.

DDR isn't dancing unless you force yourself to make it seem that way.

And that takes WAAYYYYYY too much practice. D=

I guess you didn't see the video of that one guy who was BREAK DANCING to DDR (and getting all perfects!) then?
(I got bored of Stepmania, I'm too tired to do complicated stuff and standard is boring, now.)

That's called forcing yourself to do it. And it takes lots of practice. I've seen plenty of freestyle videos.

So why do you yell at me for not liking it then?

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

I got into DDR for the first time this last March, and now I really enjoy it. It's really the only exercise I do around the house. Anyway, I have Extreme, so I was wondering which version are you guys playing? And I know the arcade versions have different songs, but it's so expensive to go out every time I want to DDR

Pros and Cons of each mix!!!

Dance Dance Revolution (PSX)
---------------------------
Pros:
-Has a couple good songs.
-Kinda old school.

Cons:
-Really really bad interface.
-Honestly, not worth looking for.

Dance Dance Revolution Konamix (PSX)
------------------------------------
Pros:
-Best songlist to date imo.
-Has a battle mode which is different from the other mixes. Pretty cool.
-Old school is .

Cons:
-The backgrounds will pretty much give you seizures.
-The step is a fraction of a second different from the later arcade mixes, so you'll be a little off if you learn on this as opposed to a PS2 version.
-Only 3 songs under level 3. Very bad for beginners imo.

Dance Dance Revolution Disney Rave (PSX)
----------------------------------------
Pros:
-Great for beginners as it contains the most easy songs of the mixes.
-Great for people who like happy, upbeat music.
-Has the insane Magic Dance mode which is great for messing with people's minds.
-NIGHT OF FIRE.

Cons:
-It's pretty faggy.
-It's rare and expensive for how little songs are on it.
-Only like 15-20 songs.
-The level difficulties are way higher than what the songs are, so it misleads you into thinking you're better.

Dance Dance Revolution MAX* (PS2)
----------------------------------
Pros:
-Amazing songlist.
-Cool unlock system.
-Accurate to the arcade step speed (as are the other PS2 games).

Cons:
-Not too much to choose from for beginners.
-Not enough hard songs.
-Other than that, not much is wrong with it. Very good mix.

Dance Dance Revolution MAX2 (PS2)
----------------------------------
Pros:
-Decent Songlist
-Beginner mode introduced. Makes almost every song playable right when you start the game.
-Has some cool licensed songs by such bands as 4Strings and Dirty Vegas.
-Introduced Nonstop mode which is good when you want to play aimlessly without worrying about picking songs.
-Characters on the home version! Yay!

Cons:
-The songlist gets old really fast, and there's a lot of repeated songs from other mixes.
-It sucks so much compared to the arcade version of this mix. -_- (personal rant ahoy!)

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme (PS2)
-------------------------------------
Pros:
-Do you like American music? This = your mix. So much licensed crap.
-Um..I want to say good things about this mix..but..
-err....Eye-Toy? *shrugs* I don't have one.
-Drop Out is on here!..oh wait, but that's on Konamix also..whatever.
-Getting to choose from so many characters is cool..but you have to unlock them wtf.

Cons:
-The interface blows pretty hardcore.
-The amount of good songs compared to the utter crap is just not a good ratio.
-I thought I liked this mix when it first came out, but everything was ridiculously easy to unlock and it just got old. A few good songs doesn't save a mix.

Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix (X-Box)
---------------------------------------
Pros:
-OK songlist. A couple neat remixes of already cool songs.
-Decent interface.
-The extra modes are different, but in the good way. Really nice if you like messing around with the controller.

Cons:
-There's so much potential in the downloadable stuff from X-Box live, but you have to pay for each songpack. 5 bucks for 6 songs is not a good deal imo. Especially when only 2 or 3 out of each pack you're gonna want to play more than once.
-Ugly cell-shaded characters. They aren't even the cool ones.
-Luv to Me Disco Mix...ewww...
-Only like 9 unlockable songs. It's lame. Bad mix overall.

Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 2 (X-Box)
------------------------------------------
Pros:
-AWESOME songlist. Woot for Starmine and Moonlight Shadow!!!
-Pretty decent interface.
-The extra mode in this is great fun. And there's a lot to do in it!
-Emi is in it. ^.^

Cons:
-Same gripe about X-Box live.
-Not too much wrong with this mix.
-The announcer is mean.
-No beginner mode or challenge mode on songs that have it in the arcade. Really confused why this wasn't added. Stupid Konami of Hawaii.

And that is my list of the best and worst of the mixes. Honestly, the best mix for beginners is MAX2 and the best mix overall is a tie between Ultramix 2 and MAX. Hope this helped ya.

ALSO! My local arcade got Pump It Up today. I'm pretty bad at it because it's Pump It Up and pretty much completely different, but I'm picking up on it fast. I started on normal 5s or so, but ran out of money pretty fast because of some early fails.

It's "Perfect Collection" and the interface is kind of hard to get used to. I like how you can hear all of the music without going through hard-to-navigate menus on DDR and I'm sad that PIU lacks this.

I did pick up two chicks while playing though. No joke, they came over to my house and everything.

The kind of means I got two pad misses, or I'm PRETTY SURE they were pad misses. Of course, I can't be positive, so it's kind of.

Well, I'm not bad, but I'm much more used to the hard surface. It did make ITG's hands easier, but it also made mines a bitch, though, so I turned them off.

Mines on ignition pads are just gay. The arrows are too sensitive so you basically have to dive off the pad.

Thanks for laying it out for me. Actually, I'm pretty decent...I can get AAs on any light on Extreme, and As are easy on most standards. I can get Bs with half of the Heavys, while the other half make me want to cry. Some of the easy Challenges I can do (like Higher.) So I guess if I'm getting another one, DDR MAX looks like what I'm going for.
