Can't really count Cinderella. Or I guess you could anyway, but it is still subject to the same rules and flaws.

Also, musicals in general are formulaic.

Exactly.

But he won't listen.

That was more toward Xyrra and saying ALW found a formula and stuck with it. Well, yeah, he did. The musical formula. In fact, he broke from the mold (excepting The King and I as another major one) and had a musical without a necessarily happy ending.

Few days ago they told me that Kat was a guy. Not that any of this really matters.

I wasn't saying otherwise. I was just arguing the part where you suggested no one has ever written a follow up play that equaled or surpassed the one play that made their reputations.

Wish I could find the box office numbers from their original productions and the weeks on broadway to bolster this position. Likly the only argument I might ever come close to winning.

That's because you're so gullible.

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piƱa coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

Jackman wrote this stupid crap:

Because you would believe it, and make an ass out of yourself every three or four threads where you bring it up?

Unless you've got the cold hard facts, from the person involved, you would do best not to repeat crap that you've been "told".

and on to the topic...I've seen both the stage production of Phantom, and the movie, and I was quite impressed. They didn't blow it near as bad as I thought they would. I actually liked the girl who played Christine better than Sarah Brightman, who IMHO has a tendancy to be a bit screetchy on the higher end notes.

I'm rezzing this because I just saw this.

That was amazing. The cinematography in that was beautiful. The choreography was perfect.

The one flaw was indeed the Phantom, but for me it wasn't his acting. They had him almost sing-shout his parts too much. but I'm also spoiled on Crawford's haunting quality to each note.

Also, they really should have kept the singing on a few speaking sections.
