hmm it seems I now have a way to play alpha centari with that patch you posted, so I just purchased a copy and it will be on its way. Can I find the expansion online? Yay for the free expansion!

We have so far never actually gotten this to work, the PBEM as described above will work by everyone making moves whenever they have time.

Life... is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable, because all you get back is another box of chocolates. You're stuck with this undefinable whipped-mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while, there's a peanut butter cup, or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast, the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits, filled with hardened jelly and teeth-crunching nuts, and if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you've got left is a... is an empty box... filled with useless, brown paper wrappers.

You guys know what would be cool? If we got the ability to edit old posts back, that way in threads like this one it would be possible to collect information in the first post instead of having new stuff that comes up spread over the whole thread.

Anyway, would two people with the game, any two people, please try that save I put up to see if it works so we can start quickly and without glitches when Tarq gets back on the internet mantrain?

Open your Alpha Centauri.ini, the very last line should be ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm = 0 or something similar, set it to 1 and it should work.

I'd enjoy the game more if we could get like a few people online at a time and do it ladder style or whatever.

We have six people from different time zones of whom most have some sort of obligation during the day, forget it.

Sorry, I'm still kinda away at this time; I'll be raring to go in a week, if it's still happening.
Grammar is your enemy! - While being able to understand someone's sentences might seem like a good idea for a proper essay, complaining on a forum scarcely leaves time for such trivialities. Write fast! You're angry, grrr! Make that show, and forget about things like capital letters, punctuation, and verbs.

Okay guys, I still haven't heard anything from my telephone company. I -kinda- expect them to do their thing this week, but I would suggest that you start without me, as I do not think that they, or the Deutsche Telekom are reliable in any way.

Verily, Mod doth proclaim:
Ok let's do a little test run to see if this works, I've started a game for three players (Uni, Conc, Pck), someone grab the save below and take a turn, then when the next player comes up click 'save and exit', then upload the save you get to the ftp and post the link here.

ftp://ftp.wintersroar.com/web/university.sav

nevermind, I got it to work. although the first few turns are gona be annoying if we play like this.
uploaded conc.sav for the next player. BTW, if the computer played university, they did a shitty job.

It's accelerated start so we don't have to do the whole starting phase by pbem.

I'd like to note that its gona suck majorly as the trehuggers are MAJOR get set up at begining of the game or be completely boned.

That and the computer doesnt know that fungus is your friend!

I wouldn't mind playing in a team.

And, I could write some simple CGI interface for uploading and listing whose turn it is.

If it crashes at startup try changing the value of ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm in your Alpha Centauri.ini, if you're using the underdogs version you may have to run regsetup.exe or setup.bat.
