My greatest triumph in the start of the game was managing to create a character named Morgon. Her profession? Scout, soon to be a Swashbuckler.
But right now I'm having fun with my soon-to-be monk.
It's like.. undead power rangers or something <' '>

Entrence to Rivervale. It's not a happy place anymore, full of evil little asslings. If anyone has any requests just ask.
A hojillion deathsilk spiders
Five line-dancing zombies
Two wierd-ass golems
And a blooody coorpse on a dirty taaable
*bows*
And now the Glowy Pillars and Wavey Arms Ensemble shall play as we exit the auditorium.
I guess brain-eating isn't just for zombies anymore...
Witness the might of the awesome Watery Orb of Death. It will not only devour your life, it will devour your SOUL!

I finally finished the precursor to the Ghoulbane quest about a week ago, so now I have the quest itself. I need to find my way to that crypt now that I have Wind Walk...
It's stuff like this that makes me tingle with happiness.
And kicking Holly Windstalker's headstone. Bitch.

Lowly my arse :\ Powering through the game is pointless imo.. I'm 'only' 23, have been enjoying the game at a good pace, and sometimes even feel like I'm going too fast. They'll just get burnt out in the end :\ I've already missed so much :x

I second this. There's no reason to rush through the game. I'm still at 17 lol. Error fucked around with this message on 11-29-2004 at 02:22 AM.

Well, you should slow down then (so I can have some time to catch up.)

Seriously, you're missing out on tons of content, I'm sure.
I'm approaching 200 completed quests, how many have you completed?
Anyway...today I ventured further down in Stormhold and found what I believe to be the Stormlord Crypt. I plan on taking a group there tomorrow to see if I can claim Ghoulbane for my own.

I've completed 42.
I don't think I'm missing out on 'tons' of content either. I have been to every zone I could possibly have been to so far as have my guildies. If anything, we are pioneering content. I can't explain the feeling you get when you know that you are the first person since the game has gone live ever to be in a certain place. I can't wait till we get to vox/naggy. The feeling of knowing that nobody else has ever seen this in live is a great feeling.
Just because we level fast doesnt mean we are missing anything.

Oh really? Did you know there are goblins in Stormhold? Have you ever done The Maelstrom event? Did you know that there is a door in the bottom of Stormhold, that looks like the zone-in gate, that doesn't go anywhere? Were you the first people to figure out where it went? Have you found where the similar door in Antonica goes to? Do you even have access to the Queen's lair in Crypt of Betrayal?
For only doing 42 quests and powerlevelling as fast as you can with only the end-game in sight, I don't see how you could have experienced much of that.
Lyinar Ka`Bael, Piney Fresh Druidess - Luclin
In the end it comes down to what you want more out of the game though: a fulfilling experience knowing you've done everything you could, or a fulfilling experience powering your way to the top and being the first people to see/do stuff. And then becoming bored because you've reached the top and there's nothing left except for the same old stuff. Who will spend more time getting to the end of the game and ultimately have a better time overall in their time spent in said game? The person who takes their time and does more of the content.
Now, I'm not saying one way or the other is better. I've done both sides of this coin. I've been the powergamer. I've also been the more casual player. Both are fun. But you honestly can NOT tell me that as a powergamer you see comparible content amounts to the casual gamer, at least not on the level up process. At the end? Maybe. If there's a lot of end game content, like there was in EQ. But I have a feeling there won't be so much til expansions in EQ2.
And this post has gone on too long to say almost nothing. Except that it's a pointless thing to talk about.

And I am of the opinion you can level in this game for quite a while on quests alone. I didnt leave the city to hunt until level 12.

I agree withthe content people. I only just made level 14 last night, and I've done a shitload of quests. Some quests I decided not to do because they wer getting to be trivial... and I kinda regret not doing em. Oh well.
Yah, allways do the quests, even if they became trivial. Not only is it a bit of coin (and maybe a minor item), but some people give a tougher quest after you do the first one. You might have missed out on some new quests by giving up on the trivial ones.

Good thing it's in the Christmas shopping season, where Mom gives me a dirty look if I even consider buying anything for myself this time of year.
"You're only supposed to buy stuff for other people this time of year!"
quote:
Ja'Deth Issar Ka'bael had this to say about Reading Rainbow:
Lyinar's bard has gotten to 16 almost entirely on quests, very little killing for killing's sake.
Hehe, very nice.. Personally I missed out on a lot of quests because of my Betrayal; but I did that! And that's one hell of an accomplishment I think.. A few people I know just started over again on the side they wanted to betray to because it was a pain. I do have around 130 or so completed none the less though. I've found that now, beyond level 20, quests from actual NPCs are a bit harder to come by.. Most of the ones I'm working on now are either my armor quests or dropped/worldspawn ones.
And regarding my saying I think I'm going fast; It's not actually the pace of leveling, but the fact that there's still a ton of things I missed, while I was preoccupied doing other stuffs. There's a ton of content, and I'm a completionist, which makes it very hard on me when I find about something I could've done! Fal, I play about 1-3 hours a day Mon-Thurs due to college, so the majority of my time played is on weekends. I'm not an alt person, I only play one MMORPG at a time, so if I'm playing I want to do something.. Doing things advances my exp because most quests require a group in exp-getting areas (no rewards from grey things).. So by doing things I level; It's not like I've been grinding away on mobs this whole time
And finally, regarding the library book quests; I just discovered those today! A nice change of pace, going around catalogging things; also did the Bootstrutter's Guide to both Antonica and Commonlands; very nice chunk of lore about these areas, as do all the rest of the books. .. I have a feeling my money's going to get blown doing a bunch of these.
Also, is there something like a pure swordsman class? i.e: FFXI Samurai Kael fucked around with this message on 11-29-2004 at 06:21 PM.
Then again, as a Scout class I have the added benefit of not requiring a group to check out a lot of the content and since I am 25 now, I can get the hell out of dodge when shit hits the fan.

Hey look, at least you get armor that looks unique from everyone else
My armor looks like Cordovan leather (read: first set of leather armor you buy), but with dark brown sleeves instead of green... Working on Part VI now, and the chest better look really damn cool.. or else I'm.. okay I dunno, but I'll atleast /feedback that the armors are subclass-specific.. If bruisers and monks can look hardcore, we should too! *riots in the street*

Monks look FAR from 'hardcore.' We look like circus perfomers. The quest armor is lovingly referred to on the Monk boards as 'The Banana Suit.'
One of the Druids gets camoflage. I think it's Fury. Their armor looks badass, while still looking unique. Ours looks like we should be blowing up baloons at parties, rather than kicking the shit out of a giant.

I refuse to get the rest of the armor because it looks so flamingly gay.
I made a monk... and I wanna anticipate the damage.
It's lonely on Neriak, though.
