Like so many others said, sex the first time sucks. For most women, it hurts like a bitch (did for me, at least).

It sounds to me like you were expecting it to be an earthmoving experience, when in all actuality, its not. Sex is an animalistic urge we get as mammals. We attach emotions to sex, making it seem more meaningful than that, and sometimes, it is.

All I can say is live and let live. Chances are you wont salvage this friendship. Trying to keep a friendship going after sex is nigh impossible. The best that most people can do is talk civilly to each other, and only for brief periods.

The thing I don't get is, if you've known for a year that you didn't click, why take her to bed in the first place? I don't know about you, but I think that's really selfish. I mean, first off she was obviously into you, and now more than likely thinks you used her. Regardless of what you told her, you used her in her eyes. Also, how could you even start to put yourself into a situation that you know you'll not enjoy?

I myself have been in a situation like that. I did the honorable thing, and didn't sleep with her. And you know what? She's one of my best friends now. If you're not attracted to her, don't pretend you are for her sake or for the sake of your (lack of) virginity.

Sorry for the long rant. What's done is done. Next time, just think before you act.

Last time I mixed letters with numbers I got indigestion.

I've got one ex that I did have sex with and we rarely speak to each other, but there's other issues there that add on to that.

There's one ex that I did have sex with and after not speaking for a while we get along quite well.

Sex doesn't have much to do with anything in any of these instances save the last one. It was something that happened and it was the breakup that caused any lingering problems.

Really, trying to be friends with a member of the opposite sex that you are attracted too without having sex is neigh impossible. Having sex once and then attempting to stave off it is just a symptom of the underlying problem... that is.... men and women are supposed to have sex.
