First attempt at "Ryder" (mission), I get out of the barber shop after buying my cut...police car hits his siren, mows down Ryder and two other bystanders before driving off into a tree. 
Second attempt, I tapped R2 (R1?), targetted the barber with..my eyes, and failed again because it "scared" him.

I haven't been playing it too much but what time I have spent with it has been really enjoyable(sp?). Doing dances, both in the club downtown and with the low riders is pretty fun, DDR for your controller. I am unhappy nitrous must be refilled, and isn't renewed just by garaging your car.
If you need some quick cash, just jack a taxi and take 10 minutes to do some missions, they pay pretty damned well.
On the highway, it's a bit hard to stop so fast just because some thug jumped the median and is in front of you,

Get in the back of a pickup truck, and crouch down. Shoot the car once to make them freak out, then ride around in the truck and use it as a turret.

Max cycle owns, you can dodge any car coming at you, its hella fun to just jump incomeing cop cars.
AND JEASUS the 2 races where the guy from gta3 shows up are REALLY annoying, keep sinking my car's. And when I finaly beat them both the ps2 finaly had a heart attack due to 40+ hours of strait play. Also, max smg is brokenly powerful, as is the sawed off shotgun. Smg doesnt have the range of the AK, but at hitman lvl with it you can just keep stepping back while holding the trigger and tapping R1.

They had one.. returned as defective; guy said he couldn't get past the first level because the game would freeze.
I bought it anyway, and managed to finish the game (It wasn't broken) in two sittings. It was worth it (It has an awesome storyline, reminds me almost of the movie Memento).
So tomorrow, I am returning it as "defective" and getting SA. All this skill stuff sounds really, really interesting.
