Hate to be smug about EQ's obvious superiority over WoW before either game is out; but this was just sent in an email by SoE's president.

EverQuest II is going to allow our European players complete freedom of choice
on which server they can play on. In addition, we will be offering many different payment options in each territory, not just credit cards or game cards. All of this will be present for launch. We will have English, French and German servers available at launch. We may add additional languages if we can see a big enough demand in a particular community, but that will be determined post-launch. With EverQuest II, SOE has taken a big-leap forward in the way we're handling the international community. The idea for us is to build one worldwide community of players. Long term I would like to see us get to the point where any player can see any language on any server, and we'll get there someday.. but for now, we feel that allowing people to choose where they want to play and in what language is a big step forward!

Hehe, I saw that SoE announcement. Good to know they are so scared of WoW they are jumping all over themselves to one-up them wherever possible

I look at it this way:

EQ = King of MMO's. There are some good ones out there, but most would agree that EQ's been the most widely known one.

Warcraft = King of RTS's. There are some good ones out there, but most would agree that WC3's been the most widely known one.

Sony tried to make an RTS, and it flopped horribly.

Now Blizzard's trying an MMO, and I predict the same thing. Kind of like when Michael Jordan gave up basketball to try Baseball. Just 'cause you're good at one genre doesn't make you good at another.

I am more inclined to believe the dozens of people on here that hail it's wonders... myself included who spent the whole 10 days of the stress test devouring the game

According to the thousands upon thousands of people who currently play WoW, it is most certainly not like the EQ RTS.

In fact, I don't think I've heard of anyone who has played WoW that hasn't found it fun.

I was ready to hate WoW, I didn't really want to like it, but I gave it a shot and it's great...

Lords of Everquest, however, was... a pretty bad game. I mean, it wasn't the worst RTS. But wow, itcertainly did suck.

The EQness of it was kinda neat for the first couple of missions, but it died quickly.

WoW is fun. It's got me addicted moreso than AO or SWG or anything since EQ, except maybe DAoC. Might be more than DAoC.

Unfortunately, my opinion isn't really valid, as I'm not a number crunching "omfg end game" person, and at the same time, I haven't really particapted in any RvR.

The flaw in your logic is that Blizzard always pumps out amazing games, while Sony produces some good games along with a whole lot of crap.

Not to mention I got to play the stress test and WoW rocks. I demand you play it too on release.

Even though I had a really tough time leveling my warlock, I still had lots of fun playing WoW. I love how they don't punish you for dying UNLESS you find your body. That was the one thing I got annoyed at in DAoC.

And I was only 3.5 levels away from getting my succubus, I wana play more.

I'm gonna assume that's a mistype. For those out of the know and possibly confused, I think lech meant to say you don't get punished for dying unless you DON'T want to find your corpse.

EQ = Worst design of any MMO ever concieved. Only popular because it was the first 3d MMO. Other games are more popular, and got that way faster than EQ did and without the benefit of being the only 3d MMO in existence for nearly a year.

Yeah, sorry, I was a little dumb-founded at that point. My teacher was jabbering on about the difference between RGB and CYMK in Photoshop. But Bajah pretty much 'splains it better than I did.

As far as I know Meridian 59 was the first 3d MMOG.
