Just an observation, dude, but in my experience, the whole friends thing is a bigger kick in the balls than the actual breakup. It's one thing to just stop spending time together and start seeing other people or whatever, because then you can be sullen, have your period of mourning, and it's all over and done with. On the other hand, if you stay friends, and keep in close contact, you've got to deal with the fact that she obviously isn't into you, but you've got feelings for her. It pretty much sucks, and makes things very awkward to deal with from even just a conversational standpoint.
Bear in mind, though, that I'm not condoning breaking off contact with your girl just because y'all aren't an item anymore. That's a pretty shallow, assholish thing to do, at least in my opinion. Unfortunately, the only solution I've found is to find another girlfriend, because nothing takes your mind off girl problems like another girl.
I suppose weeping masturbation sessions might work too, but that's always seemed a little odd to me.

I just felt a cold chill... a good trick seeing as it's over 85 in my house. 
UBT and I are just as happy as we can be. We had our 2nd wedding anniversary in April, but he is deployed so we are celebrating when he comes home.
We are deeply in love and miss each other terribly right now. I am lucky that I get to email him daily, and talk to him sometimes.

And from the sounds of it, you stroked her ego so she probably wants to stick around for some more of that.
I could be entirely wrong too, but from my experience most women are ruthless when it comes to relationships.

Now I can hopefully stop hoping she'll come back to me. Maybe soon I can let her go.
