Alaan thought about the meaning of life:
I would like to get in, but won't be OMG!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO if I don't since I barely followed the game except for one brief bit right after I signed up.
Same for me.

Suddar's account was hax0red to write:
Did Blizzard ever send a confirmation email for beta signups? Trying to remember.
Negatory

Gadani had this to say about the Spice Girls:
I'm guessing they sent the emails to fansites first, and will send to people later?
That's what I'm thinking.
The rest of us will have to wait until tomorrow.
Edit: Nope, they're out now. [ 03-18-2004: Message edited by: JooJooFlop ]
It's officially live.

World of Warcraft Beta Test is Now Live!
Thursday, March 18, 2004
The first round of emails has gone out, and the North American and Korean World of Warcraft beta tests have officially begun. If you didnt receive an email, dont worry; well be adding more testers at the start of each upcoming beta-test phase. Keep an eye on www.blizzard.com for news on when well be opening up the additional phases, because that will be your clue to check the email account you used to sign up. Also, anyone interested in tracking the progress of the beta test can visit our World of Warcraft Community Site, which will contain regular updates as well as general information about the game.
The beta tests for certain languages in Europe and some additional languages in the AsiaPacific regions will take place at a later date. Please stay tuned to www.blizzard.com and www.blizzard.co.uk for more information.

The rest of this thread will be devoted to violently maiming Talonus.

Save for a few people with fansites.
No one on the bnet WoW forums have been jumping with ecstacy, sooo...

Someone didn't get in! Too bad Blizzard's forums are down, or I'd have much material to laugh at.

ACES! Another post by Talonus:

Kalculus Kid or Mathinator or Waisz painfully thought these words up:
Why does everyone want to be in so much, anyway? Betas aren't supposed to be playing the game for free... though the amount of work they require varies from beta to beta.
Betas aren't supposed to be playing the game for free (barring stress test beta part), but most people treat it that way anyway. Its just the way most people are, all play no work.

And they claim to be fans of the game... then they'll bitch about those problems being there at release because they were "known issues" in beta... except no one submitted them.

You seem surprised.

Actually, no. I'm just pointing out to a lot of the people here who want in WoW so bad that they are likely idjits.

I like finding bugs, hehe. One of my greatest joys was breaking Tiberian Sun the same day I got it with a bug that rendered me unkillable. Plus, well, I find bugs in War3/TFT after release, figure I could find them in beta
More hope for fanboyish people.
Oh, and just for you, Talonus.

Talonus stumbled drunkenly to the keyboard and typed:
You expected any different of [insert popular game company here] fanboys?

To the best of my knowledge, you cannot send out a couple thousand e-mails at the exact same time
Sure you can. Hundreds of thousands, even.
I check my mail, and it says it's getting a message. My heart jumps for a second, then I see it's a scifi.com newsletter.
Haven't seen it yet but anything he posts is worthwhile.
