Holy crap! All 1600 pages, or an abridged version? I've only read the abridged version of Genji, and I found it fabulous. You have good taste.

I loved those books when I was a kid. Supposedly they're all getting the Phil Foglio art treatment at some point; I'm looking forward to that.
As for those of you who read "Heart of Darkness"...quitcherbitchin'. It's like 30 pages long. Suck it up
Or just go watch Apocalypse Now. It was based off of "Heart of Darkness"

Yeah, Armor is the one with the Space Marine-like guys in the nuclear powered armored battle suits who were fighting the ant-like insect alien race. If you liked Starship Troopers, I recommend this book. Kinda the same premise. Marines vs insect aliens, but also the underlying effects of war and battle on the human pysche.
uhmm.. do the boards count as a book? They should... horror, drama, sci-fi, mystery, suspense... erotica... all wrapped up in one cover.

Decided to re-read all the Anita Blake novels as I wait for the latest one to get around to hitting paperback form so I can buy it. Forgot how much these books kicked ass.
You need to come to Marcon.
She's Guest of Honor.
And omfg, meredith Gentry kicks ass, too.

I read too much... or too fast.. or something.

Still waiting for the local Chapter to get Cerulean Sins in paperback, love the books, but SO not paying for hardcover prices, heh. Way in the heck too expensive for a single book.
Meredith is, indeed, awesome
And that would rock if I could make it, but can't
AP English class was reading it so I thought I'd look at it. Loved the movie.

If you give me yoru life in contractness if you lose them (i.e. pay the .. uhh... 30 bucks to replace them if you MISplace them), and pay for shipping, I'll loan you both of them.
I love those books ^_^

Hehe, thanks, but no worries. I will have to buy them both regardless when I can paperback, so I can wait Because naturally I can't read them just ONCE
Thanks for the offer though, I can wait. I will just appreciate them more [ 02-27-2004: Message edited by: Vorago ]

Kegwen obviously shouldn't have said:
That was definately a cool book.
Wanted to read it for a long time, finally have motivation to -- using it and the movie as my sources for a film and literature project.
I've also had S.M.Stirling's 2nd Terminator book on going, as well as the second book of the Butlerean Jihad trilogy ("The Machine Crusade").
I've got yet another book on going as well but I can't recall its title; it's one I'm rereading in any case.

Italics are better, since underlining is merely a way to signal the typesetter to use italics.

I really liked Marquez. I read One Hundred Years of Solitude and Chronicle of a Death Foretold, though, so that may have something to do with it.I enjoy a lot of the literature from that area, though. I read Ficciones, and thought that was great (I especially liked the story about the Library of Babel or whatever it was), and I'm currently reading Pedro Paramo.
I'm reading about Marquez himself, now. I really know nothing about South American history, either, so picking up the context should make his other books easier to get through.
What did you think of the ending to One Hundred Years of Solitude?

I thought it was pretty interesting how the prophecy that Aureliano or whatever his name was found at the end of the book could have very well been the book One Hundred Years of Solitude. I thought that was rather humorous.
