I can't really think of anyone who's disappeared that I really miss a whole lot besides Elethi.
That doesn't mean I don't care about anyone who's disappeared, it just means I can't remember them.

I also thought he loved his children.
But, seeing as how he's practically abandoned them, he's killed every shred of respect I had for him once. It would take a very long time for me to even be willing to talk to him, were he to suddenly decide to show up in my family's lives again.
But he hasn't. He hasn't seen either of his kids in almost a year - it'll be a year on his daughter's birthday (yeah, he showed up to it last year when I wasn't around - but he didn't bother to show for his sons birthday a month later - do you know how hard it is to explain to a crying 4-year-old that his dad isn't going to come see him?)

Eh... I don't really know if I have any place posting anything regarding this topic, since I was not here when Cadga was around and I'm still fairly new, but a similar thing happened to me.
I didn't see my dad for about a year because he got into a huge fight with my mom over child support or something like that. It got pretty nasty. I guess he thought that we ("we" being me and my sister) didn't want to see him again (which wasn't true), and was too ashamed to even talk to us more than once every few months. However, once my aunt persuaded him that we did in fact still care about him and want to see him, he called more and more frequently, and eventually started taking us over the weekend again like he had done before.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, even though he hasn't seen his children, doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't love them.

I used to look up to him. . . long, long, long ago. . . but I used to.
Oh well, I can still look up to you - even if you are only a matter of months older than me.

My brother had been encouraged by my parents to see them - they wanted the kids to have their father in their lives.
He sees them once, last year, and disappears. There is some bad blood between him and my parents, but my parents would be civil, if he actually TRIED to keep contact with his children. They would be. They would never, ever deny the kids the right to see their father.
But you know what he did, instead of seeing his kids?
Went out, got high, fucked around, moved from apartment to apartment. There's even a warrent for his arrest in a different county, and we've been mailed and called about it several times because they were under the impression that he still lived with me and my parents.
I heard a couple months back that he was living not more then three fucking blocks away from us, with an old friend. Did he visit? No. Did he call? No. Once he heard about the warrent... He left. Haven't heard a thing about him since.
So yeah. I figure, if he loved his children, he'd make some conscious fucking effort to see them at least ONCE, before they completely fucking forget who he is. Either that, or he just doesn't give a flying fuck anymore.
And, if I had the opportunity to tell him all this, you can bet your ass I would.
And Vorb... I know. I looked up to him for a long time too. Hell, he introduced me to these boards, introduced me to metal music, introduced me to Sci Fi. All things I still love. And part of me still loves him. I've just lost every bit of respect for him.
