So what makes WoW's systems un-good?
Cookie cutter from everything I've seen.

Cowboy Darius said this about your mom:
Tradeskills are tailored to improve combat performance (mind you, I havn't played every MMORPG out there, so there may be exeptions; but from all the ones I have played, this is true). Raiding is combat, da? Non combat quests give you rewards that will most like give you a piece of armor, or a weapon, xp, or gold. All of which help your combat. I sure wouldn't want to do a quest that didn't reward me with anything besides story line. That's what books are for.
This is true. It does all generally revolve around combat in the end. But having the options of doing non combat things to gain experience are nice. I'd honestly love WoW if it REALLY didn't seem like such a clone of every other MMOG out there. Ah well.
I'm done pointing out the flaws in WoW, I just get tired of seeing rampant fanboism around here.
All games follow a model, a template if you will. Action games are all about running and jumping. Take a look at Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter and Maximo: you're always running, jumping and beating up badguys.
Where's the difference in any of them? You're reaching.

There was much rejoicing when King Parcelan said this:
Wait...once all MMOGs have naval combat, they will be truly unique? That don't add up.All games follow a model, a template if you will. Action games are all about running and jumping. Take a look at Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter and Maximo: you're always running, jumping and beating up badguys.

There is no difference in them. And that's why I'd also say that most of them suck.
And I was stating something WoW could do to differentiate itself from being a clone.

Actually, Blizzard has said many, many times that one of the fastest ways of leveling will be questing. There will be dozens of quests in your hometown for you to do at lower levels, then probably plenty at higher levels (there will be a lot at higher levels, but you'll have to go search for them a bit). There's also "secret tradeskills" that you have to go out of your way to learn (like a troll *secret tradeskill master* hiding in a dungeon or something, and when you find him he can teach you the secret tradeskill after doing a quest for him or something).

Someone that doesn't like MMORPGs shouldn't even post in a thread celebrating an upcoming MMORPG. [ 01-08-2004: Message edited by: Cowboy Darius ]

See, now THAT's the kind of thing I'd like to hear, but more of. It's interesting to see a MMOG approach questing as a near similar way of leveling as actually going out and kill stuff. Besides repeat abusing a quest ala Trumpy Tonics.
That's one thing I'll give in it's failure.
Still basically see it as an EQ clone though. No hard feelings though on any of you fanbois. I just never see anyone call the game on not doing barely anything new MMOGwise.
Edit: And Nwist, I love MMOGRPGs. I've played them all. I just like to see them have some reason why you should play them over another MMOG. [ 01-08-2004: Message edited by: Batty ]

Batty had this to say about Jimmy Carter:
It'll be exciting for the first hour. In the end it just turns into finding the best set of manuevers to use, rinse and repeat. In no MMOG I've played, be it EQ, DAoC, FFXI, AO, etc have I found the thrill of combat to last beyond the first hour of playing. There's only so much to be said for hitting attack, hitting your attack styles or such, and having fun with it before it turns into tedium.
You've never played UO.
Apart from that, WoW lost its appeal when I saw Darkfall Online. [ 01-08-2004: Message edited by: Jens ]

Blizzard has gone as far to say that someone camping a spawn point will see someone questing level past them every time. Also, you can't repeat quests. Do it once; go find another one. Quests don't seem hard to find though. Someone with a quest you can perform (meaning it's possible for you to do it, or maybe pull it off with a couple even level friends), has a giant yellow explaimation point over their head. If the quest's a few levels higher than you, the exclaimation mark will be blue.

OtakuPenguin obviously shouldn't have said:
Nikki and I will be playing this the day of release. On an RP server. As humans.
omg omg I simply cannot wait.
You queers are dead. The Horde and Clan Lovemachine will rend you asunder!

You would...queer. Nikki will leave you for us because we have big muscles, lots of cash and green skin. Three things that chicks find irresistable.
Ive played UO(a little) EQ, DAOC, AO, SB(make the pain stop) and some that are pretty much muds with subpar SNES graphics, and WoW looks badass.
Badass.
I wanna be a night elf demonhunter!
But you cant be the other cool stuff.
A dwarf with a blunderbuss would be nifty though
It's doubtfull the game you see now will be like the one you pay to play for down the road.
I hope it does good, but there has been way to much hype which will not work in its favor.
For anyone who doubts, I give you Horizons, Shadowbane, Ultima Online 2....etc etc.
It still looks like a stellar game, but I'm not a foaming at the mouth fanboy over it anymore: I'm waiting till release most likely to even pick it up.
Getting this hyped up over a game will ONLY lead to disappointment in the end.

No, probably closer to spring. Closed beta just started.
