Virtual communities involve virtual people; real communities involve real people. I highly doubt many people on this board act the same way on the board as they do in real life. Thus, most of the time, you're really holding a grudge with your virtual persona against someone else's virtual persona.
It's an additional layer of anonymity and make-believe to the "masks" people wear in real life, and adds an additional layer of silliness to a "grudge."

It's harder to do that on EC, since everyone always puts their two cents in on every conversation. This might be why people find it so hard to drop grudges. you're constantly being reminded of why you're mad at someone.

I don't see it as an additional layer, just another type of "mask" one uses, many people run around playing a virtual persona in real life as well for various reasons, I don't really see much of a difference except for the fact that online there are more things one can pretend to be / not be.

Anyway,I have to agree that virtual personas are rather flimsy; people can be whatever they want with little real reprocussion. However, on the other side of the coin, because of magical blocking features happy happy go, people can ignore whoever they want. Basically, virtual relationships are such pick and choose.
Virtual relationships are still meaningful; they just need to be taken with more salt. ;p
However, the more meaningful they are, the more complex they tend to be. Many people don't need a 'second' real life to make things even more complex, the tangled web life tends to be. I admit that I have fallen a bit too deeply into the virtual relationship thing, and it's affected me in ways it should not.
Also, we all use the board for different things. I sort of use it as a help advice thing in some senses, to the dismay of others (sometimes, that is): It's not that I don't have people to talk about things with, it's that this is a more diverse range of people and thus will have many different ideas and answers. Some people take it as a source of humor; others take it as a place to exchange ideas; blah blah blah
Apparently Blindy's never heard of the ignore feature. In real life, if some person you hated was around you; they could produce noise and visual pollution that is really hard to avoid (Assuming they were with you at the time; they can be avoided), but in EC the pollution can be ignored and reduced to a small box with a small link to read their post.
And don't say "But they negatively affect the threads!", because then you're saying that you want to control the conversation.

As far as the Ares thing, that bugged me a little bit, but she fixed what used to annoy me. Which was the, "I post a picture!" then a few hours later, or a day later, before the original thread is even off the first page, a NEW thread is made with the SAME picture, only updated. So instead of just updating the original thread she was making all new threads. She doesn't do that anymore, so it no longer annoys me. Getting upset over what an anime artist may or may not do in their pictures as far as mistakes or whatnot goes is just dumb. Anime/Magna is the simplest, most basic drawing style there is. The only difference between one artist and the next is small quirks within the style itself and the CGI work applied to it. Even if there are small errors (Especially in anatomy, which I don't understand why you evern brought that up since Anime/Magna is loose anatomy at BEST. 
) Isn't really something to go getting your panties in a knot over.

People who rain on everyone's frigging parade piss me off just as much as when someone's having a really bad day - thier pet died, rough day at work, WHATEVER- and someone tells them to "STFU and stop whining, attetion whore."
Everyone occasionally needs a boost; even if the problems are small, they still mean a lot to the person in question. With the exception of situations said person got themselves into with thier own negligence/stupidity (i/e if person A left her windows unrolled, keys in the ignition, in the worst part of town, and said car got stolen. It's sad, but... GEEZ. Get a clue), we can be supportive. The one person who says "lol your problems don't matter" should kep in mind he or she may be the other's place.
And fucking ovusing smilies. Fucking GOD that's annoying.
Uh, Delid told me about something, and I fixed it on my last picture. No, you're right, I don't. Cause to me, they are finished and even with mistakes, finished. I save my critiques and try to fix problems on my next picture, that's how I work. Don't like my threads? Don't read them.

Ares is perhaps the best artist on these boards. At the very least she is one of the top two or three. And her work is more consistent than any others. And you feel you have the right to come here and bitch because she posts her artwork when it is done? So her work is not perfect? Show me one artist who does perfect work. Drys, Woddy, Scott, none of them are perfect. They all have different styles and ways of conveying the characters they showing us.
You are ok at coloring work that other people have done. Nothing wrong with that. But that doesn't put you on the same level as Ares or the others.
Take your misplaces Jealousy and go play with yourself. Because no one here is going to support you in attacking others who have done nothing but offer thier talent to the community.
Ares is now talking about not posting any more of her work becuase of this. Instead of giving her constructive criticizm like most people you are tearing her down. You insult people and expect others to stand by you? No chance in hell.
As for Lyinar. Her and I dont' always seem eye to eye. But you seem to have this vendetta against her. I don't understand it and frankly I don't care. She doesn't deserve this kind of treatment any more than Ares does. She is not always right, but she is right a hell of a lot more than you are.

I haven't seen Lyinar attacking you lately, in fact I really only saw Lashy as being the loudest at telling people to play nice with the newbies lately. I am not saying that as a flame at Lashy by any means, I am just saying that maybe you are confused. Heck, maybe I am too.. I do that. 
As far as this thing with Ares goes, really Gikky.. you have to admit it does sound snippy and jealous. Ares hasn't done anything wrong, and most of us really enjoy her artwork. I enjoy seeing Deth's stuff, and Fae's, and anyone else that wants to share with us. Tearing her down belittles yourself. You are above that kind of behavior.
I am sorry you feel the way you do, but I think it's a misplaced anger.
Some of the new people have REALLY gotten under my skin, like Somthor, but it's not really worth all my energy to worry about him.
I guess what I am trying to say to you, as your friend, is just let it go. It isn't worth your time or energy to get all that worked up over it.
