Since so much stuff is discussed on this anime forum that'd be spoilers, it be nice to have a GENERAL warning for those of you who haven't seen a series like Trigun or Bebob, as shocking as that is to me.
In a discusion on who would win a three way duel how do you expect anyone to go beyond, say, "Vash would win because Vash>Spike and Gene LOLOL", without plot points examples and such being given. I admit that saying a charecter died is about as far as you go, but it has been out for quite awhile.
Also, CN themselves said spike died not 5 minutes ago in one of those slide show bits.
ToastedFritter, how do you get him regenerating instantly from one of genes shots. In terms of the three animes and weapons Im not really sure whether vash's laser or genes caster is really a more powerful gun.
In closing, discussions about anime will involve plot points. Spikes death is a plot point, it(above all else) proves that he couldnt win.

Beowolf has been written for hundreds of years. I hadn't read it until recently, though, and I was still upset when my english cheerfully ruined it by mentioning how Beowolf dies on the first day we talked about the book.
Just because an anime has been out does not mean people have had an interest in it since then, or that they have had access to it.
True, it's not unreasonable to bring up events from the series in a discussion. But it's also not unreasonable to just use a spoiler tag, and not ruin things for people who are casually reading over the thread. It's a tiny amount of work, and just requires considering whether or not that detail is important to the plot.

You might be thinking, well if he regenerates, why does he have scars. Maybe he regenerates like humans, leaving scars. The think is, you just dont really know what would happen, even with plot points.
He was in bad shape for several days after the duel with Blazing Dynamo. There's a few more times when Merle ends up taking care of him while he recovers from something or other, such as after the Fifth Moon episode. Anyways, if Vash could regenerate, why wouldn't he regrow his lost arm? He's extremely durable, but it doesn't seem like he can truly regenerate.

Vash has been in his series of bad fights, but not as bad as Spike. Spike gotten the crap kicked out of him episode after episode. Everything from Gangs to Crazy clown men and Bacteria has beaten his ass.
As for the arm, I think it's his reminder to him not to fight.... Even though it's a gun now..... Right....
I thought about it, maybe it's just a preference.

Hey, I watch anime off and on, and I've never seen any of either series -- I don't have the gobs of cash sitting around to buy them.
